Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (archive)

Hello everybody, my name is Geoff, was born and grew up in Africa but have been living in Switzerland for the last 25 years.
My interest in Digital Photography has only manifested itself in the last 5 Years and the search for great Photo`s is becoming an obsession with me.
I started with a Canon 400D and have now changed to the Canon 50D. I have a 17-85mm and 70-300mm Zoom Lenses and a 60mm Macro Lens and a 35mm Wide Angle. I have attended a lot of Photography Courses and am technically proficient, i also have been working with Computers for a long time and can use most well known Programmes.
I am interested in Landscape, Architectural and Animal Photography. What I am looking for is help with extreme lighting situations, for example Sunup and Sundown and also tips on Composition.
Would love to join a Club in Switzerland, so if anybody has any tips where i can find one i would be most grateful.

Well, there are certainly the people on here with the knowledge, skills and experience to offer sound advice and suggestions. If you've been hanging around the site for any length of time, you will have found, I hope, that this is a place where highly experienced photographers are only too happy to share their knowledge and support others.

And the best way of using that knowledge that's on offer is to post up your images and ask lots of questions. But, also, your technical knowledge will be of great help to many others who do not already have it.

Hi! Just registered and find this site very interesting and informative. I'm a former Marine and retired Teamster trying to establish a part-time photography business. I love visualizing the images, creating them, the post processing and printing, but hate the business side including websites and blogs and all of that.
I love photographing horses! Owned and rode them most of my life and if I don't wind up with some horse customers pretty soon, I'm going to have to buy a couple so I can stay busy.
I like talking photography, the creative processes more than the technical, and hope to spend many happy hours here. Thanks for having me.

Hi to all members. I'm Niko B a new member and a newbie to photography. In a relatively short time I have gotten into photos as a hobby and I get lots of joy from it. I am here hoping to pickup some tips and suggestions to improve my skill. I'm happy and honored to be among you all.

I've uploaded a few photos, from my vacation in Bangkok and more recently, one of my cat and a squirrel outside my door. I welcome any suggestions. The Bangkok photos were taken with my trusty old Sony V1 which by modern standards is barely usable. I then graduated up through a few compacts, to a D70, and currently a Pentax K20D. The thing that strikes me as magical about photography is the way if causes one to see the world differently. I believe that is a wonderful thing to know.

As you've probably alredy found out if you've been looking round the site, CiC is very much focused on learning and helping people develop their knowledge and skills.

So, please do pick some of the images out of your album and load them up into posts into some of the Photo Commentary forums and you'll be assured of constructive and helpful comments and suggestions.

Hi there my name is Rick Clark and I live in Utah. I am a Pentax user for the last 40 years now I use a Pentax K5.
I like to be in the outdoors, hiking and just nature walks when the weather permits. Will look forward to learn from

I've been taking pictures off and on since the mid 1960s. :eek:
I've owned lots of different cameras over the years and I've had a few courses, but I can't really claim to be a proficient photographer. My family and friends like my pictures, but in truth my pictures don't measure up to what I see here and at other sites.
Maybe if I pay attention to the advice given here, I can rectify that. :)

Hi Noe. I visited your flickr site -- brilliant photos! I'm sure you have lots to teach us newbies. The furthest north I have been is Iqaluit in Nunavut, just a few degrees south of Iceland. No photos of the area though, alas.
