Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members
@ wings4me, Deb or Deborah, welcome to the site.
Out of interest why did you switch from PS to Gimp? Was it something to do outrageous prices?
@ ndzi mini collins, welcome to the site. You've come to the right place to learn about photography, be it colour or not!
Guys, any questions, don't hesitate to sing out.

I wish I still had my two Dobermanns to keep me company on landscape shoots - they'd have been a darn site more fun to have along than two kids!

I am switching from photoshop to Gimp, and I am really happy that I did.
Hmmm ... that's a first for me! Just wondering why you made the change?
By the way, as an ex-aviator, your username caught my eye - just wondering if there's a story behind that?
PS: Almost forgot my manners - Welcome to the forums!

Hi Ndzi - welcome to the forums :)
What kind of films do you make?
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members
I switched because I could not afford PSP, and I had outgrown Elements by leaps and bounds. Oh, and do like FREE
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members
Hi,
regarding my avatar, in 1994 I had a traumatic experience and wanted to fly away. Hence wings4me, and the dragonfly represents all of my dreams that I am flying to.
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members
@wings4me, I'm not sure as how to respond to your last.
But I'll give it a go by saying you've joined the friendliest group on the net. Anything you want to know; sing out.
Or send a PM to anyone,
Mark
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members
I've decided it's time I started saying welcome to people in this thread, after all can't be antisocial forever can I? Thing that caught my eye is kailas, what's the story with that user name?
I presume you're named after the mountain, the house were I live is named after it (but spelled kailash as sometimes sankrit h is dropped but always pronounced with it) hence it caught my eye.

Hi Costas,
You have a very impressive portfolio, whilst I hope you will find the site useful, you might be able to give a few gems of information yourself.
Oh and don't worry about the language, some English people are none too good at it either!
I think all photographers speak the same language so don't worry. Welcome!
Ian
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members
Hi Costas,
I agree with Ian, you have an excellent portfolio on your site, thanks for sharing that.
I just spent a good half an hour exploring.

Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
Sounds like a great idea. In fact, it worked so well that the last thread became filled to the brim with introductions by new members. These have now been archived at: https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread658.htm
ADMIN EDIT (29 June 2009)
The above is still true, a second batch of welcomes has just been moved to the above thread.
Please include all new introductions and welcomes in this thread. We look forward to hearing from you.
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members
Hi everyone. Am I the only one here who hasn't yet introduced myself?? I feel like I did when I first signed up.. oh well. Names Sara. I live in Gasport NY USA and am a Domestic Engineer.. (I like that better than Home Maker, makes me sound so professional!.) I am a big goof ball who is mom of 2, and enjoy taking pictures of anything and everything. My kids of course, nature shots(trees, streams, etc, etc) but also have an interest in macro shots of insects and flowers. I recently purchased my first digital camera in January 2009. I guess I am a late bloomer. :o I think I stumbled across the best site ever and am glad to be a part of it.. Everyone seems so nice, even for beginners like me, who will ask the most basic of questions. Don't worry, there coming! (I just need to read more first) So Thank you so much in advance for your tolerance!! For those who are taking tally, I have a Canon Power Shot sx110. Oh and I also use Windows.. haha. :D Well.. think that's it. Look forward to chatting and learning all I can about working my camera and taking good pic's. Oh, and just to give you an idea how new I am, I have just(today)downloaded (or whatever it is called) my pictures from my camera to my computer.. and feel pretty accomplished!! I can't believe how easy that was. Plug in a cord from camera to computer and that's pretty much it! Well now onto cleaning em up, for lack of a better term.. Which I found confused me so much, I took a nap.. yeah, it was that bad.. It's OK though, I'll get it!
