I've decided it's time I started saying welcome to people in this thread, after all can't be antisocial forever can I? Thing that caught my eye is kailas, what's the story with that user name?

I presume you're named after the mountain, the house were I live is named after it (but spelled kailash as sometimes sankrit h is dropped but always pronounced with it) hence it caught my eye.

Hello to everyone.
Real name is Peter and am a born and bred Cambridge man (hence the user name).
Work as a Financial Adviser in the Cambridge area (got a lot of free time at the moment thanks to the dreaded ''credit crunch'')!!
Got the photography bug a couple of years ago when my better half (so she tells me!) brought a Canon 350D for my birthday. Have added a few lenses since then and upgraded the camera to the 30D.
Main enjoyment is wildlife/nature but have been taking more portraits of late, get a decent camera and all the friends and family think your a pro!
Have joined a couple of forums to gain more knowledge but have become a bit dissalusioned with constant bickering and sniping, came across this site just before Christmas and have decided to join and become a bit more active, hopefully learn from the more experienced members here.
Hope to see more of everyone in the future.

Hi Costas,

You have a very impressive portfolio, whilst I hope you will find the site useful, you might be able to give a few gems of information yourself.

Oh and don't worry about the language, some English people are none too good at it either!

I think all photographers speak the same language so don't worry. Welcome!

Hi everyone. Am I the only one here who hasn't yet introduced myself?? I feel like I did when I first signed up.. oh well. Names Sara. I live in Gasport NY USA and am a Domestic Engineer.. (I like that better than Home Maker, makes me sound so professional!.) I am a big goof ball who is mom of 2, and enjoy taking pictures of anything and everything. My kids of course, nature shots(trees,streams, etc, etc) but also have an interest in macro shots of insects and flowers. I recently purchased my first digital camera in January 2009. I guess I am a late bloomer. I think I stumbled across the best site ever and am glad to be a part of it.. Everyone seems so nice, even for beginners like me, who will ask the most basic of questions. Don't worry, there coming! (I just need to read more first) So Thank you so much in advance for your tolerance!! For those who are taking tally, I have a Canon Power Shot sx110. Oh and I also use Windows.. haha. Well.. think that's it. Look forward to chatting and learning all I can about working my camera and taking good pic's. Oh, and just to give you an idea how new I am, I have just(today)downloaded (or whatever it is called) my pictures from my camera to my computer.. and feel pretty accomplished!! I can't believe how easy that was. Plug in a cord from camera to computer and that's pretty much it! Well now onto cleaning em up, for lack of a better term.. Which I found confused me so much, I took a nap.. yeah, it was that bad.. It's OK though, I'll get it!
