Hello there, my name is Andy.
I'm new to photography, in fact my camera hasn't arrived yet. I bought a canon 20D to get me started, second hand with a 18-55mm lens kit. I'm really looking forward to getting started. Everything i look at i see a picture.
Hi, I'm an illustrator and taking photographs is essential in my process of creating new work. I'm interested in technical as well as artistic aspects in photography. Recently I'm concentrating on 3D-stereo- and panoramic pictures.
My main motives are landscapes and 'snapshots'.
Greetings, Scratch
In my posted picture you see a wet horseback, nice texture, in the setting sun.

Hi, my name is Dylan and I'm a complete beginner in the field of using a DSLR.
I have always wanted to have a go at photography as a hobbie, but have never taken the plunge. Because I can only use my right arm, I thought there is no way I can use a DSLR, but after reminding myself I can do almost everything else (apart from juggle) I decided to visit Jessops in Cambridge to have a play for myself. Well I met a guy there who was browsing for a new lens and he gave me a 30 minute rundown of cameras and in particular the Canon 550D. This guy was a breath of fresh air and gave me so much advice, I have never seen anyone so enthusiastic about photography!
Anyway, I'm sold on the Canon 550. It felt really comfortable for me to hold, I can zoom ok while holding the camera and by all accounts it is an all round good camera.
I shall place my order with Amazon in the next few days, it seems I can save a few pounds that way.
Hope to start posting very soon with lots of newbie questions.
This site looks fantastic, a great find for me

Welcome.
If you Edit Profile you can put the name you want everyone to address you by in 'Real Name' (we tend to go with names that people use rather than Usernames, if you see what I mean).
I hope your knowledge and skills will be available to other member here on CiC. I suspect you have an awful lot to offer.
You'll find it's all pretty informal and is focused on everyone helping everyone else to learn. So, please join in.
Dylan
I hope that after a very short time here on CiC, you'll decide that it's the online resource of choice for you - to help you develop your knowledge and skills in photography. And as you've implied yourself - there is no barrier whatsoever to you becoming as good as you want to be/can be.
The one thing that CiC can contribute is a commitment to support your development through not only the tutorials that are part of CiC, but also through the commitment of other members on here to share their knowledge and experience in a constructive way.
Great to have you on board and I look forward to seeing your questions and your work being posted up.
