Question: How do I change/upload a profile pic?

Are you meaning an Avatar which will appear in the side bar alongside your posts?
If so .....
- Click on 'Forum Actions' in the menu bar at the top of the page
- Click on Edit Profile
- Under My Settings on the menu bar on left hand side, click 'Edit Avatar'
- From there you can either choose one of the pictures offered, or you can upload your own image. Please note though, that the size of your own image must meet the requirements of the site (from memory I think it must be no bigger than 80 pixels longest length). Maybe your software won't let you re-size your own picture down to that size.
Yes, Thank You.
This shall do for now
Hi
John here. In my late 50's - not that age makes a difference!! I live in Melton Mowbray here in the UK which is not too far away from Cambridge.
I am not new to photography but have been too busy helping bring up a family to follow it as a 'real' sort of hobby. About 5 years ago I purchased a Lumix fz28 and fell in love with it. I swore I would never use a detachable lens camera because of all the hassle but guess what, I purchased a Lumix G1 a couple of years ago and adore the thing
I will try my hardest to contribute when I can
John

That's the right attitude to be starting with!
Welcome, John. If you've 'lurked' around the site for any length of time prior to signing up, hopefully you already know that it's a place where the focus is on learning and the support of colleagues. So I do hope you feel able to join in very quickly and become a 'fixture' hereabouts for a long time.

Apologies for not being online to send individual welcomes as you registered, but I hope this group welcome is equally warm.
Great to have you all become a part of CiC. I hope you feel able to take part in discussions, post questions, take part in competitions etc.
Hi Everyone. My name is Paul Coyne and I live in Glasgow in Scotland. I used to do a lot of photography, but then when the children came it all turned to family snaps. I'm now trying to get back via digital. Loving it, but still consider myself a beginner, even though I took my first picture over 40 years ago and got my first SLR in 1981!
Currently mainly using Canon 550d, Canon 10-22mm and 70-200 f2.8. I have no preferred genre, as I am really just an opportunist - and one who keeps forgetting to take his kit with him!
Paul - That's okay. You're still allowed to join CiC (joke!)
Welcome. Great to have another Scot on board. Hopefully, if already been looking in on the site, you'll know that's it's pretty informal, easy-going, but packed full of knowledge and experience that is happily and willingly shared.
So, please do get stuck right in and join the discussions and post images.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Mike and I'm using a recently purchased Canon PowerShot G11.
Being a relative novice.... no, a real novice, I'm both intimidated by and impressed with the quality of photography that you folks post here.
Perhaps I shouldn't be confessing this to you guys, but the reason that I bought this camera was to improve the pictures of items that I sell on Ebay. Well that's how it started out, but now I realise that my sights are set a little higher and I would like to try to capture some of the beautiful and interesting things that I see in the world around me.
So that's why I'm here, to learn and grow.
The photo is of a stream near to where I live in SW France.
Cheers,
Mike
Mike - Hello and welcome.
Where are you in SW France? Love it! But for a change am travelling down through Burgundy and Beaujolais later this year.
I know what yoiu mean about looking in and been in awe of some of the stuff on here. But every one of us was in exactly the same place as you are now at some time in the past. And the really good thing about this site, is that everyone who has gained knowledge and experience and has the skill to apply it well, is only to keen to now share that with other people starting off on the journey of becoming a photographer.
So, don't feel you cannot be a full and active participant. Please get right in there with questions and views.
Hello my name is Janis and I have found this site very informative. I have been playing around with photography for awhile but now that I have more time I want to learn more and there is so much to learn.
G'day CIC members,
My name is James, and I live in Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia. I have a canon 50D. At the moment, my focus is on taking good shots of the kids as they grow up (I have a collection of 3), however, I have always enjoyed landscape, so hope to return to more of this when I am less "time poor". I stumbled across the CIC site a few years ago, and from all the photography forums and sites, have found it to be the best source of technical and practical information I have come across. I finally leapt in and became a member after receiving an email about the themed competitions.
Janis - Delighted to hear that. If you have, then CiC is serving its purpose. Because learning through help and support, as well as informal online exchanges is the purpsoe of the site.
So, please do join in and start posting up some of your images for comment. Don't worry - doing it the first time is the hardest.
James
Hello and welcome. Two from Queensland, one after the other. Brilliant.
I hope all you guys are okay down there. We've been watching and listening about the storms that have been coming in. What we had here last night was bad, but nothing on the scale of what your coast got hit with.
Thank you for that. And I can agree totally, because I'm just a late-comer to the Mod Team and its Sean and the other guys, along with every member who offers their knowledge and experience constructively and willingly, that makes the site what it is.
look forward to you being right in the middle of it from now on.
