Welcome Geoff and thank you for your comment. Certainly the goal is that this is a constructive forum where people respect each other, act maturely and make helpful comment - even if that is sometimes to point our why your image is maybe not as strong as you first thought it was. But that is all part of what the learning process is about. And learning is very much what CiC is about.

We are fortunate in that we don't often get people signing up who feel they've got to prove something by behaving in a difficult manner or trying to prove their superior knowledge. They soon 'get-the message' and drift away.

So, it great to have you on board and please do feel able to join in.

Thank you, Donald, that is most reassuring, and thank you also for the kind welcome. Many years ago, when I had an interest in photography with a 35mm film camera, I joined a "Photographic Society" - it was more like "Top Gear" for camera enthusiasts, so I lost interest.

In answer to your enquiry, I'm in the study. My house is in Hertfordshire, England! :)

There are a few of us who, either live in central CA, or are from there. My grandparents lived in San Luis Obispo (actually, we joke that my grandpa built half of SLO) and, even though I'm from Pasadena originally, poking through your flickr has really taken me "home". (My photos are all snowy, at the moment, though, because, now, I live in VT.:rolleyes: As a matter of fact, my sister just posted some photos of Lake Cachuma. It's a small world...

Anyway, I hope that you can jump on in and that CiC can help you grow.

I live in Pine Mountain, Georgia. I’m so glad I found CIC. I’ve really enjoyed reading the tutorials and have found them very helpful. I have always loved taking pictures but after being surprised with a Canon Rebel T2i I think obsessed is a better way to describe it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences with everyone. Please take it easy on the rookie as I have lots to learn.

Hi All, Bob here, I'll explain the SpiderBob some other time.
I'm not new to photography as I had my own dark room many years ago, However, I'm new to digital photography, and have been learning a lot lately. My wife spent the bucks and bought me a new camera for Christmas and I've already taken about 3500 pictures. Now I need to study them. Anyway, I will now go to somewhere and figure out where to ask my next question

I am Bill, from Vancouver. Found this site with lots of information which help me understand photogrraphy more. Look eager to learn more from you guys.
Currently owing new Canon 7D, with 24-70, F2.8L and 70-200, F.2.8L as my daughter is involving in figure skating. The 7 fps of 7D and the 2.8 help me a lot in the ice rink.
Still in the process of thinking whether to go for another 50mm F1.2L or 85mm F1.2L. I am thinking it for family, kid close up, portrait.....
This spring will visit HK for my neice's wedding, will bring along with the gear and have some personal fun there ( I rather not using the term "wedding photography" that make it so formal, professional. I understand it is a top level of art.)
Will fully utlize my gear so that get the happiness of enjoying my gear as a photo tools than a collection of wuality stuff.

Today I experimented with the flash light and tried my hand at some lightpainting. That could be fun. I love the photos in the gallery. They are incredible. Hi my name is Marlon working here in Saudi Arabia and I have been in film photography for while but just starting with Digital Photography. I have been reading a lot of articles and tutorials about photography when I stumble on this site which I think can help me improve my techniques. I have been taking pictures of peoples and event but now I am starting with landscape and nature photography and would like to learn about portraiture. I have been experimenting right now and have been succesful at times but on a very slow pace. My problem is restrictions on time and traditions. Hoep I can get more help from you guys.
