hi, i'm Kikoy, an alias to my name Francisco. i'm from Naga City, Philippines and just starting up to photography. i shoot some events, sports, but need to learn more and also to other aspects such as portraitures, landscapes, lighting, photoshops.. etc.. so hoping to learn some tips from you.. through CIC..

Hi All, I'm CC and a beginner. Tried to shoot the super moon last night with little success. Used the recommended equip. and settings but still didn't work. Any suggestions? Will try again tonight but it will also be darker out. I used a tripod, remote, f16 - f11, zoom lense and 40D camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

& mind if I ask, why you want to change the make of your camera? Do you have additional lenses for your Sony body?

You can edit your profile & mention your real name there, like many members have.
You haven't mentioned what went wrong with your shot & also the exposure time. Provide us with that & we would love to help you. On fact, of you search around, we have a thread dedicated to taking moon shots.

I find myself at a loss for words. My friends wouldn't find this surprising, but it is none the less frustrating. How do you describe yourself to someone for the first time?

I am a photographer from Northern California who is still trying to determine his focus. I had started out thinking I was a landscape photographer, but as I explore the world of photography, I am finding that discription too restrictive. Beauty takes on many different forms, a fact becoming more appearent to me each time I put my view finder to my eye. My work is a bit eclectic much like my self. I am currently shooting with a Sony a900. Have I mastered it? Heavens No! Not even close...but am I having fun? Heck YES!!

I have joined this forum because I am truely impressed by the quality of the images shared here, the tone of the threads, and the quality of the knowledge shared.

Hi Everyone, my name is Reg, I am from Brisbane Australia, but I came to Bali about 5 years ago to teach English as a volunteer, I forgot to go back home and have been living in Bali ever since. Bali is a wonderful place for a photographer to live, so many fantastic photo opportunities! But I am getting lazier as the years roll by, I need a creativity boost, hopefully I will get some of that by joining this group.

I wonder if somebody can give me a little help in getting my portrait onto my profile? I can see the 'Click Here To Upload Photos From Your Computer' button below, but I can't find how to make sure the photo goes to my profile, and not to a full page spread :-). I have been stumbling over this for at least an hour. Thanks in advance :-)

Hello from Umbria, Italy,

I recently rekindled my interest in photography with a new digital (my first) SRL. I have found Cambridge in Colour extremely informative and helpful with its tutorials and techniques and friendly atmosphere. So I am inspired to participate here. My main interest stems from my first course in contemplative photography in Halifax, Nova Scotia, about 12 years ago. There was an emphasis on activating one's fresh perception of the world in all it's texture, colour, simplicity and energy such that the camera is an extension of one's direct perception. In the course of that training we would shoot in the morning, develop the slides at lunch, and have a great visual feast in the afternoon with the slide projector illuminating our perceptions on the wall. There was an atmosphere or real joy and celebration. One of the interesting points that emerged is that there is beauty everywhere, even in the most mundane or even ugly scenes and that it is a question of simply looking and letting that come in. Nonetheless, I am living here in this beautiful country in the regions of Umbria and Tuscany where there are wonderful gentle landscapes of incredible beauty. So I look forward to sharing further with everybody and studying those great tutorials!

Hi... My name is Steve. I live in Pensacola, Florida. I have always had an interest in photography, even though I never really like my picture taken of me. My wife and cured me of that. :) In 09 I purchased a Canon EOS Rebel XS, which I am happy with. I mainly like to do nature photography, but you can catch me doing some architectural photography also. Lately it has been the boardwalk at the local state park. I like to take picture of the boardwalk in monochrome. Makes a better picture to me. Anything you would like to know, please feel free to ask.

Reg, you asked about how to upload a portrait into your profile;
From menu bar above;
click Forum Actions > Edit Profile,
from there are two options (in left hand panel)
Edit Profile Picture (to get one to appear when People view your Profile) or
Edit Avatar (to get one to appear on left of all your posts)
either option provides places to either upload from computer or link from an image already hosted online somewhere.
I suspect the latter is what you're after - good luck,

I stumbled across this website while searching for something on photography and after reading a few things on the site, I decided to join the forum. I am an enthusiast photographer taking photos for a long time. My main interests are photographying people (individualy or at social events such as birthdays, sepcial personal occasions etc.) and nature. I currently have a Canon EOS 40D camera and three lenses including very recently purchased Canon 70-200 f/4.0L IS USM and Canon 50 mm f/1.8 II. Until recently I have been taking photos mostly in Program AE (P) mode but have recently started experimenting with Creative Modes on my camera. However, I realise I have a lot to learn. I want to progress from taking good photos to taking great photos and hence I have been looking at available learning opportunities. I have decided to join this forum hoping that I will learn a lot from other forum members. I realise that I will have to make time available to learn if I am really keen to learn.
