My name is Daniel, live in Brussels, BE. I have a Canon 450D, attend evening classes in photography and photoshop. I do like the work from great photographers like Gavin hoey, Michael Andrew, Trey Radcliff and Captain Kimo. Hope to learn a lot on this site.

You are very welcome to CiC. I am sure this forum and the associated tutorials will, along with the evening classes you are attending, help your photographic development. I have been interested in photography for many years but so far, due to work commitments, I have not had a chance to take many photos. Now that I am retired I intend to dedicate more time to the art and enjoyment.
I live in Mackay North Queensland, Australia with the Great Barrieff of our coast line and rain forrests to the west, about one hours drive.

I have not done any serious photography to date but I have treated myself a DSLR and would like to put it to use. Your website certainly has helped in tutorials and inspiration so hope before long to be able to post some work. My interests have been in nautical subjects and I live on the coast so hope to develop on this theme.

You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. Did you know you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

Anyway - Welcome to CiC. This is certainly a place that is focused on learning. So whatever you have to give to others in terms of knowledge and experience will be very welcome. So, please do join in.

Thanks for welcome. I'm enjoying seeing the competitions that are being run and wonder does it matter how long ago the photos were taken.
The DSLR that I have is Nikon D7000 with 18-105 lens. Feels good in the hand and slowly coming to explore the settings and controls and going off the auto mode.

Not in the 'Mini Comp' or 'Mono Mini Comp'.

You'll see (from the first post in each thread) that the Monthly Challenge and the Themed Challenge do have 'rules'.

Hi,
I am fairly new to the world of photography and am looking to learn. I have a Canon T1i c/w 50mm-f1.8, 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses. Besides photography I am also heavily involved in the world of motorcycles and motorcycle drag racing and hope to combine my two main interests both in capturing the races and in other bike events. I also do a lot of bike trips thru the Rocky Mountains and hope to get lots of practice with the camera as I travel. I look forward to tapping into what seems to be a great pool of knowledge here at CiC.

CiC is certainly a place where you'll find lots of helpful information, advice and guidance, both from the tutorials but also from the people on here. The secret to remember is that there's no such thing as a dumb question. If you've thought about it, then you can be sure that there are lots of other people looking in who've also thought about it and wish that someone would ask it because they're too shy to. You can help them as well as yourself!

My main interests are nature and landscape photography. Very average but hoping to improve all the time. Did belong to a local camera club which has now disbanded due to lack of members. Looking to join another local one shortly.
