Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi I'm Peter (and apologies if this is a repeat - I hit the wrong button a minute ago).
I am a keen hobby photographer and have been for many years. I do not specialise in any particular form, I just enjoy photographing whatever interests me.
I like the occasional challenge, which is why I am now the owner of a second hand Canon 1D Mk III - enough to keep the techie in me happy for... probably many more years to come - and enjoying every minute.

No problems Peter. All is working fine.
A very warm welcome.
A 1D Mk III is a nice challenge to have. Great to have you on CiC. If you have any questions, please ask. And I hope you join in the discussions and post up some of what comes out of the 1D.

I hope to learn a lot here and get feedback.

Hello and welcome to CiC. I think I am correct in saying that there are no other members from Chile currently active on the site. Chile is one country I would very much like to visit - to explore the wine-growing valleys.
This forum is certainly the place to be to improve your knowledge in the areas you mention. Please do ask questions and join in discussions. It is wonderful that you have joined.
And your command of written English is very, vert good

Hi, my name is Jim and I live in Columbus, Ohio. I love to photograph sports, nature, landscapes, and sometimes people but I do feel when I shoot pics of people, they act as if they don't want to be photographed so I respect their privacy. I do ask before I take a photo though. I would like to learn more about taking great photos, not just photos but great photos. I own a Canon 7D, 20D, and a 300D with some different lenses. If there is anyone in Columbus or surrounding area that would like to get together to take photos, please contact me for I want to learn. Also post processing. God Bless all here.

Hi,
My name is Richard, looking forward to learning all of you "experienced" guys have learned throughout the years. I live in Kentucky, and am interested in photography.....of course....I own a Canon 60D, and would like to eventually own a Canon Mark II. I enjoy photographing my children as well as the places I travel. I take very well to criticism, and actually would prefer that over any type of praise...how else am I going to grow? Thanks for having a site like this, I really look forward into cyber meeting you all!

Jim
A very warm welcome to you. Thanks for joining. Right off memory, I can't think of any currently active members from in or around your area (that means someone will be on here very soon to tell me I'm wrong!). But you are still very welcome to this community and I hope you'll enjoy it and find it useful.
Learning is very much what CiC is about. So please do join in the discussions and ask whatever questions you may have.

Hello Richard. Good to have on CiC.
I hope you don't mind me mentioning, but for a lot of us of a certain vintage on this side of the 'pond' the name of Louisville, Kentucky conjures up memories of the then Cassius Clay, later Muhammad Ali. And just a couple of days ago, Henry Cooper, a hugely popular figure in British sport, who dumped Clay on to his backside in 1963 in a non-title fight, died aged 76. Sorry .... just re-living my early life there!
Anyway, back to photography. I hope one of the things you find here on CiC is that you will get constructive and helpful criticism when it is asked for. The people on here are not into trying to be clever or to seem 'more knowledgeable' - we soon knock that on the head. It's all about colleagures sharing thoughts and ideas.

Hello everyone! I find this area very interesting and full of useful information. Congratulations! I am Portuguese and my professional field is Graphic Design. Working with Photoshop since version 2.0 up to version CS4. Mere amateur in photography and am currently using only one cibershot. Something I do is "play" with images by creating montages / collages in new contexts. Here's an example:

You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. Did you know you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Donald, thank you for your welcome words and attention to change my profile adding my proper name (done). For the few moments I spent exploring the CIC, I found it as very useful and interesting resource and a nice place to share ideas. Congrats!

Hi:
Mike Henville is my name (mikehenville) and I live in Toronto Ontario Canada. My main camera is an EOS 7D and I usually use the 15 - 85 mm lens. I also own the 17 - 55 mm f2.8 which I use to make images of my grandchildren. I also own the Panasonic LX 5 which I mostly keep in my car to photograph anything that may catch my eye (though not when driving).
I look forward to sharing and learning from others on this forum.

Hello,
My name is Stig and I live in Oslo, Norway. I've been shooting for about a year and a half with my Nikon D90. I'm joining this community as it in my opinion is one of the absolute best photography web sites around. I've been a long time lurker, but now I want to pick your brains so I took the proverbial plunge and registered. Thanks to the CiC team for this great resource.
Cheers,
Stig
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

Stig - It's great you've decided to take the plunge and sign up. As you've already seen, CiC is very much about mature discussion and debate and, I agree, is one of the best online resources to help people advance their knowledge.
So, a very warm welcome to you.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi, found CIC when looking for a good link to a photoshop technique to help someone on another forum! I was immediately impressed and with quality instructions in the tutorial part of this site I'm thinking I can learn a great deal from all the members here. In return, I'm hoping my 'different' approach and style (sometimes not to everyone's taste ) will help bring something unique to my involvement here :)
Here is one of my favourite pictures I've produced this year so far. Although my main camera is now a Canon EOS 350D, this was taken with my Old Lumix DMC-FZ10. I'm currently working my way through old shots I previously discarded due to problems with the original photo (this had an awful colour cast and a number of other tonal problems).
Colour corrected and effect added in Photoshop 7, using layers, difference cloud filter and brush tools. Hope you like :D

Sue - I certainly hope that CiC is a place that can help you with your development. As you've hopefully seen already, this is a place where informed and, for the most part (!) sensible discussion happens. And the beauty is that, even if something doesn't appeal to everyone's taste, what you get on here is an appreciation and comment on the creative and technical ability that produced it. The style may not suit us, but we can still appreciate the skill that went into making it.
So please do join in the discussions.
And as for your introductory image - that is wonderful.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello,
I'm Barry, a fellow traveler from southern NJ who is enjoying Life's journey. Photography is obviously an interest and I presently work with a Canon G-12. Digital has been a sort or photo reawakening for me. It's been a great journey thus far as the digital darkroom is much kinder as these past several years have been a learn-as-you-go process as I adapt to digital and acquire a decent knowledge of Photoshop in the digital darkroom and synthesize the process of capture to post processing. Digital really does make one more aware of the total process and it hones your skills.
That said, I remain a work in progress as there is so much to learn about the fundamentals and intricacies of photography. After lurking here for a while, I believe that this forum is going to provide me additional direction &focus and I look forward to interacting with other folks here. My forward-looking goal is to expand my skills & to eventually acquire a DSLR kit ( I've been spoiled by full featured P&S cameras which make travel light and easy and still give me the ability to work on skills/technique ). I'll be getting a dedicated computer system for my photography/videography this year ( partly an excuse to justify a new "boy toy" to the wife ) and I'll finally UG from CS2 to CS5 so I can work more in RAW with the G-12.
I anticipate lots of questions as I finally get myself settled in . It's nice to see that so many enthusiasts and pros are here to help.
Barry
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
G'day folks.
My name is Geoff and I've been visiting this website for several years now, but it seems lately it has expanded quite a lot. I teach photography at a local college, and judging from the tutorials on this site, it is an excellent resource for photographic learning. I like the community aspect of forums, and while I'm pretty busy and won't end up being a major poster, I look forward to some spirited dicussion around photography.
