    Hello, Tammy.

I think CiC is one the best places to be if you want to learn, because that's what the site is all about. You need to post up some of your images, either in the challenge threads and/or for Comment & Criticism.

You'll find lots of advice and guidance on here about Photoshop. A lot of people believe the best training you can get is via some online programmes that you can buy into. If you want to get more information, post up a message in the Image Post-Processing and Printing section of the forum.

Hi my wife and I have just retired and are looking forward to some relaxing times starting with a trip to europe in August. I'll edit this by saying that I have always been interested in photography but never had the time and now hopefully can take full advantage of this site by asking some questions of the more experienced members

Hello and welcome. Glad to hear that you gave the trigger finger plenty of practice on your trip to Italy!

On the subject of your pictures being huge, I notice that you also posted this at 1599 px on the long edge. The site automatically resizes images down to 700px, so posting at that size could mean you losing a bit of defintion (sharpness) that's not under your control. It also makes for quite a big file that, for some people, might download quite slowly. A lot of people re-size down to 700px for posting. Others keep it slightly bigger. I post at 1024 on the longer side.

Have a look at this tutorial.

But, as well as that, please do ask any questiosn you have and let's see some more of those images.

A very warm welcome to each of you. I hope you find CiC to be a key online resource that helps you develop your knowledge and skills and provides you with the opportunity to engage with others in the photographic community.

What you will find on here are many fellow enthusiasts who offer their advice, suggestions and support and who orefer to take part in informed discussions about the art and craft of photography, rather than engage in competitions about who has the biggest, best, most complicated, etc gear. We're not that sort of site.

I hope you enjoy it and are part of the forum for a long time.

Hi everyone, I am trtshen from Malaysia. This would be my first post of getting myself to know y'all. I found CiC a really great online resource which helps a lot in understanding photography skills and knowledge. I was surprised with all those tutorials available in CiC, they all are great and very informative.

I've just started my photographing life since 5 months ago with my very first dslr, Nikon D3100. Hope to learn more from CiC, thank you so much for the effort of maintaining this platform.

trtshen - Hello and welcome to CiC.

I am very glad that you are finding the site useful and thank you for posting your first image to show us an example of your photography.

I hope you find that the discussions that happen on this forum, complement the tutorials and contribute to the development of your knowledge.

    Hello, again, Heidi.

I hope you enjoy being a part of CiC. You've maybe already seen that this is not one of those, 'Wow, grea5t image' sites. It tends to be a bit more informed than that and really sets out to encourage and support people in their learning. I hope you'll feel able to share some of your knowledge and skills with others and that, of course, we see some of your own work.

Hi all, I'm David. Firstly, I just like to say how GREAT this "Cambridge In Colour" site is. I've just been a happy snapper with the camera. I enjoy taking photos of Sunrises & Sunsets, The Bush and Streams. I now would like to take photography more serious and I will be purchasing new DSLR Camera very soom.

This photo was taken with my 1st Digial Camera, Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P73.

Well, that's pretty good going for a happy-snapper.

Welcome, David. Great to have you board CiC. As you've already found out, I hope, CiC is very much about learning and sharing knowledge. And, if for the first wee while anyway, you are on the 'needing to receive' end of that spectrum, then that's fine. The joy is in slowly realising that you're moving towards the 'being able to provide' end.

So, please do enjoy CiC and join in the discussions and ask questions and, of course, post images.

Hello all: My name is Robin and I currently live in the State of Qatar, a very small country located on the Saudi peninsula and Arabian Sea. I am originally from Montana and arrived in Qatar 3 years ago to teach. As a teacher, I am blessed with several holidays during the school year which allows me to travel outside of Qatar. This past year I purchased a Nikon D90, moving up from the Nikon D40. I have been a Nikon camera user for the last several years and am still learning how to use the many functions available to me. The main focus of my photography tends to be architecture and nature, with a secondary focus on animals, in particular cats and dogs. I tend to shy away from photographing broad landscape, action and people shots because I just don't feel like I am very good with those subjects. I look forward to constructive criticism of my work and learning as much as I possibly can from all of you, thanks, in advance!

Welcome. I think you are the only active member based in Qatar. So, it's nice to have another first (and now someone will tell me I'm wrong!).

If you've been looking into the site at all, you'll have seen that it is very much about encouraging and supporting others in the development of their knowledge and skills. So, please do join in.

    Hi Ricardo,

Great to have you join us, we're all here to improve - and helps others too.

The best advice I can give is "join in the fun", post often, with images, in the appropriate forum for the subject matter and ask for C&C and I bet you'll find people will help out.

Also - ask questions if there's something you don't understand, the only silly question is the one that goes unasked.

Welcome to the CiC forums from ....

    Hi,
My name is Richard. I am retired and live on the shore of Lake Munmorah on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
I am still coming to grips with my new Fuji HS10 (cant afford a DSLR yet). I haven't decided what my photographic theme interests are . I think I might be one of those photographers forever seeking "that shot"!
I enjoy post production work and use Corel Photo pro X2 for this.
I discovered the Cambridge web site by accident and consider it to be the most informative and impresive photographic site that I have discovered after many hours "surfing".
I hope to enter competitions and look forward to the opinions of others.
