Hi Joy,
What are you shooting your animals with?
Hmmm, Manhattan, from watching TV, I could be forgiven for believing that apart from Central Park and the zoo, there's nowhere else to shoot wildlife in NYC, so; "say it ain't so" :)
Do be sure to join in the community, we're all friendly, you'll get much more from your photography.
btw; I have a sister in living Yorkshire (near Pickering) and was up there to see her a few weeks ago.

Actually, I tried several times to post a small picture of mine to My Profile, but failed. I need to fix this one first.
See you.
Hi Don,
Glad you have got right into the posting habit, if you need further help with images in general, try this; HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?
If it is specifically about a profile picture, then one of these FAQs may be of more help.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello I am a nearly golden oldy and I did start out when I was much younger and did the usual stuff in darkened sheds threading films into those canisters Dev > Wash > Fix > Wash > Dry then exposing the paper in small wooden frames - couldn't afford one of those fancy exposure devices where one could enlarge or whatever but got great pleasure doing it as one could adjust the exposure to the paper according to the quality of your negative - another story.
Have had quite a few different cameras over the years starting with boxies and my first SLR was a Practika LLC (back in the UK). I then got out of the habit for a while then moved on to my first really nice SLR - Pentax MZ-50 until I fell into a creek with it still attached to me - end of Pentax. Then followed a succession of Fuji film compact (looked like DSLR's) and found them a really nice little camera with a picture quality that belied the cameras buying price. As I had ALWAYS wanted Nikon when the digital stuff took off was able to get a F601 film one with a standard Nikkor (beautiful quality) a Sigma 200mm zoom second hand to which a I bought a 300mm Tamron - new for the air show stuff that Tim my son and I like to go to.
But all in all I am just an average photo taker and recently met on another forum a chap who convinced me to get another Pentax - awaiting my K-r with 200mm kit now. Seeing that I am approaching retirement and building and working computers won't get me into the fresh air thought I take it up again as I find the marriage between photography and electronics so exciting.
My forum friend also put me onto this site and I think it is great that is until you all get fed up with my constant queries lol!!
So without further ado I'm going to post a thread re Fuji cameras as I would like one as a back up but need some good advice on which model and which type of sensor.
Well you can see I can ramble but now you know where I've been and done.
Thanks for taking the time to read the ramble lol!!
John

Hi,
My name is Jane, I live in Hampshire and belong to the Alton Camera Club. I have just changed from a Sony A300 to a Nikon D7000. I like Macro Photography and had some nice images with the my Sony and Macro Lens which is what prompted me to 'upgrade' but I currently do not have a Macro Lens for my new camera so am missing the Sony at the moment. I want to improve my photography and look forward to learning from the tutorials, hearing from fellow members and maybe putting up some images soon.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for the welcome. A few things in common. Over the years archery has changed quite a lot, it's incredible. As for forensic science, my interests are in forensic photography, ballistics, and accident reconstruction. I'm doing a computer forensics as a career change, but if I can get a foot in the door with the others I'd rather do that. Hope your son does well, there's lots of opportunities for young people, I wish I was back in that age.

Peter

Both very worthy undertakings.
Hello and welcome. Is Amara a real name? If not, you've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. You can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.
You can also insert your location in your profile (area, country, etc) and that will show up alongside you posts.
I'm glad you are enjoying CiC. The focus is very much on learning and on supporting each other in the development of knowledge and skills. So, please ask lots of questions, join in the discussions and, of course, post up your images.

Hi
My name is Olimpia and I am from Romania. After using optical microscopy images for painting samples characterization, I discovered that I love taking photographs. At work I use a Nikon 90D camera (for optical microscopy images) and recently I have acquired an Canon 450D camera - to use it at home. I am looking to network with others at Cambridge in Colour Forums :)
Cheers
