Brian - You're very, very welcome. Thanks for signing up to CiC.
Great news to hear that you're now ready for the next step on the photographic journey. CiC is certainly a place where you will get support, advice and suggestions that will hopefully support your learning. There is no such thing as a daft question on CiC. So ask away. And I hope you're part of the forum for a long time to come.

Tony - Hello and welcome. Great to have you on board. Excuse the quip above - I know what you mean.
As you say, there are some very impressive wildlife and macro images on here. The wonderful thing I like about CiC is that the people who make those images are very happy and keen to share their knowledge and experience in order to help others. I think I can guarantee that you will find no prima-donnas on here who think they're too clever to share information with others.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi, I actually signed up to CiC last year but was too shy to introduce myself as I thought I would be the only person on here that was a complete novice now I see otherwise - but in the meantime have learnt a few things with the help of CiC and feel less shy about asking questions .
I love taking pictures, always have but have been in the shadow of two of my best friends and my brother, all of whom are great photographers. But then I had to buy a sexy new camera for work and was lucky enough to inherit some lovely lenses from my father-in-law, and decided enough was enough I needed to learn, so here I am. I have a Nikon D90 with a Nikkor 55-300mm, and several manual lenses: 105mm, 55mm, 300mm (and teleconverters to go with them but I dont know how to use these yet). My quest is to capture an image of the sea that I saw over twenty years ago and have since been unable to forget - I think it will be possible with this camera. Apart from that I take pictures of pretty much anything and everything but am keen to find my niche.

And remember - Every single person on here was once a novice. And everybody has had to go through the same sort of learning process that you are now embarking upon.
Renata - I'm glad you've decided to jump in a post your first message. And I hope you continue to see that everyone on here is very willing to support and help you develop your skills.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi, Chris from Dayton, Ohio. I've had an interest in photography for years. When I was in the military back in the late 80's early 90's I purchased a Canon T90 to document my service years. Unfortunately the camera took a bad fall back in 88 I believe. Did a jump into Normandy France for the 45th anniversary of D-day. My pack burned in from a 1000ft or so and my camera was inside. I never got around to replacing it and have been using point and shoot types since. Last week I finally decided to take my hobby up again and purchased a Nikon D7000 with a 18-200mm f/3.5 VRII and a 50mm f/1.4G. I started google searching photography forums and land here. I've been reading the tutorials and lurking in the forums to learn as much as I can.

Hello and welcome. Glad you've found CiC. And congratulations on the new purchases.
I hope you've seen, through lurking, that CiC is very much a place that's about learning and doing that by supporting colleagues in developing skills and knowledge.
I have to confess that launching myself out of an aircraft as you have done feels tremendously exciting and I often wondered what it would be like. But ..!

Thanks Donald, the launching yourself out part might be scary but it's the landings you have to worry about. lol........

Hello my name is Ben. I am what you would consider a "newbie". I own a Canon Rebel XSI. I found this site on good old Google and found it to be extremely helpful so I decided to join the forums. Photography has been a long interest for me and I am happy to finally be taking the steps to one day take some nice pictures. Thanks in advance for all your help. I have already learned great deal just by browsing around.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi all - just joined and introducing myself, I've been a photographer since the early digital cameras were introduced, shoot now with a Nikon D300 and have spent the last couple of years with macro/nature stuff. I've just gone over to the Visual Arts and have an Associateship panel coming up in June for adjudication, I've got my Licentiateship {of the Royal Photographic Society}. I like the RPS path as it gives you a target and improves your work, well, that's the theory! I lurk in Kent and belong to a club and a group of us also have formed a Digital Group with limited membership aimed at improvement in camera skills and Photoshop. I use PS CS5. Best, Ruth

Welcome to each of you. delighted that you've joined up. And it's wonderful to see that CiC continues to attract people with ranges of experience, from the 'old hands' to the 'newbies.
What ever the level of your knowledge and skills, I hope you find CiC provides what you're looking for out of such a forum and website. Our exchanges are very much biased toward learning and in supporting each other in our development. I hope you also find that we don't do 'my gear's better than your gear' type dialogues. If they happen, they quickly get shunted to the side.
So, please of join in. If you have questions, please ask them. If you want to offer comment and criticism and/or join in technical discussions, then do that as well. And, of course, post up lots and lots of images.

Hello and a warm welcome to CiC. Is the proper way to address you to use Zeev or Deckel?
I think you are the only current active member from Israel.
That's quite an experience you have had. I hope you will use it to help others on here, as CiC is very much a forum in which support to others in their learning is givenm a high priority.
I look forward to seeing some of your work.
You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. Did you know you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello,
I started photography about 2 years ago in my spare time and really enjoy the creative freedom it offers. Always trying to improve myself I stumble upon CiC and really like the tutorial it offers. Thank you. I live in London and enjoy city scape and architectural photography especially at night.
This one of the Battersea power station taken about a week ago.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello therel,
Living in Norfolk, retired with a little bit more time to spare, I have over the last few years endeavoured to develop my photography skills.
My early photographic work was mainly Landscape and Natural History, but about a year ago the creative streaks in me lead me to new subjects: Still Life and Flower Portraiture.
My other interest includes visiting Photographic and Art exhibitions, gardening and birdwatching.
I look foreword to viewing member’s images with comments if required and contributing to forums and threads.
Cheers
David
