Niladri - I do hope and indeed believe, that CiC can help you develop your knowledge and skills. Please do just ask any questions that you may have and, of course do study the tutorials.
Do you have any favourite subjects or styles for your photography, or are you at the stage of still exploring and experimenting with what you would like to do?
A very warm welcome.

Hello everyone! My name is Carrie and I'm from Wisconsin, USA. I absolutely love the idea and images of photography, but haven't had any professional training yet (I'm an engineer by profession). I purchased a Nikon D3000 last year and will be on my way to Alaska for my honeymoon in just a few weeks.
I hope to learn a few things before I leave. It's a pleasure to have found this community and to learn from everyone. The pictures I've seen are spectacular! I applause your talent and hope to learn some tricks.

Niket - Hello and welcome. Where are you?
Youi can edit your profile and insert your location. It will then show up alongside each of your posts. It's nice to be able to see where everybody comes from.
I hope you find that there are many people on here who share your passion and who are very happy to share their knowledge and experience with people who wish to learn. So, as well as looking at the tutorials and reading the discussions on the forum, I hope you will post up some images and invite comment and criticism and that you will ask any questions you may have.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Dhanraj
You, too, are very welcome. I am glad that you find the site useful. I hope you will be involved for a long time to come.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I hope this is a new post and not a reply to an earlier one.
I'm a new member.. DON WATSON.. and my bio is fairly complete. I really enoy photrapyhy now that I'm retired, and it also helps as therapy for my very low vision. I have all the equipment that most professionals would have, altho I only use a smally percentage of the opportunities that camera and software programs and settings allow for. I do rely more on PP for correction, 'cause it's easier for me to with with an image on a monitor and see the previews than it is to fool with camera setting before shooting (other than the basics).
I do study other people's images and will undoubtedly learn much more being on this forum than I could ever teach, so I'll be taking more than giving.. although I will put up a lot of images. My criteria for posting images on this forum will be if I consider it more than just a 'snapshot', ie it must have some aesthetic value to it that I want to share... It could be just a grab shot, however.
:):)
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Everyone, My name is Dave, i am 61, i am retired and live with my wife in West Sussex. We have three grown up children and five grandchildren.
I have been into photography since the 1970's , i was still using my Canon A1 SLR, until about three years ago, when i thought it was about time to go digital.
I bought a Nikon D200, which i must admit, i did not get on with it very well, i then bought a Canon G10, which is absolutely brilliant, but i missed a full size DSLR, so eighteen months ago, i bought a Canon 7D, which i am over the moon with, it will be even better once i learn how to use it properly, as to be honest digital technology frightens the life out of me.
My main photography is my Grandchildren, but i enjoy all types, especially old buildings.
I read as much as i can, about digital photography and i think forums are a great learning source.

Don - Hello and welcome to CiC. Taking is just as good as giving, but as you say you'll be doing that (contributing) by posting up your images.
However you use it, enjoy CiC.

They all come home eventually! (Sorry Nikonites - It's a joke .... Honestly!)
Hello Dave - and welcome to CiC. Maybe you've already seen that as well as the very serious and hugely informative discussions that take place, there's also room on here for irreverence and fun. That, I think, is what marks CiC out from the crowd.
But I hope you also find that CiC is one of the best learning resources available. So, as well as learning on here, I hope you will make your knowledge and experience available to others with less experience.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Good morning, all!
My name is Thom and I am a newbie to the Forum and to digital photography as well. In my younger days I was a 35mm hobbyist, but fell out of the habit. My last 35mm SLR was a Pentax that required manual focus and didn't even have a motor drive (yep, I'm THAT old!). Over the past few years I began renewing my interest in amateur photography, starting with a Nikon Coolpix point-and-shoot, then progressing to a very nice Canon G11. And last week, I took the full plunge and bought a Canon 7D. Those manual focus-days feel like ancient history now!
In any case, I wanted to introduce myself and say how eager I am to absorb as much information as I can from folks. The tutorials on this site have already been immensely helpful. Thanks so much for allowing me to join in the community.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Thom! Welcome to CiC. :) You'll enjoy it here.

Welcome, Thom. Great to have you on CiC. I hope you find this forum as useful as the tutorials and that you feel able to join in the discussions, ask lots of questions and, of course, post up your images.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi folks. I found your site by accident during a google search and it looks like a fine spot to visit so here I am.
I first picked up a camera at about 7, my Mum's old Franca rangefinder, and it ignited a passion that has gutted and flared, but never died. My mother, and my grandfather before her, were keen photographers and I still have many little 2x3" snaps that I enjoy trawling through. After a raft of small instamatic type cameras I purchased my first SLR in my 20s. Film was expensive but I stretched the budget and shot roll after roll.
In the late 1970s I completed the first 2 years of a 4 year Professional Photography Certificate at the Canberra Technical and Further Education, but was defeated by the physics of lenses and gave it up to work full time, unfortunately not in photography. But the groundings of the course are still with me in the lessons I learned about the building blocks of a good image.
A long hiatus intervened during which I took photos only sporadically, but my enthusiasm was fully rekindled when, in 2004, I purchased my first digital SLR. While I have a huge respect for photographers continuing to use film, and indeed I still have that capability as the Hasselblad will take a film back, I am currently only shooting digital images.
I now shoot full time with medium format digital (Hasselblad) and Phase One digital back, but many of the images you'll see were shot on my previous kit of enthusiast and then pro Canon equipment.

Odille - I'm very glad you found us and I hope that CiC is the sort of forum that you enjoy being part of.
I think you might be the only medium-format shooter currently active on the site (although I dream!).
Anyway, I hope being part of CiC can support you continued enthusiasm.
