Hello CiC. Ive read quite a few of the great guides on the site and decided to join.

I purchased a Nikon D5100 a few weeks ago as my first dSLR. I wasnt too interested in photography until recently, but now Ive taken quite a liking to it. I tend to prefer landscape and night photography.

Id like to post a picture, but my computer at work does not have an sd card slot. :/

Trevor - Hello and welcome. Glad you've decided to join up. As well as the tutorials, this forum is a rich source of learning and as I've written before on here, the only way you'll get answers to your questions is to ask them. And CiC wants people to ask questions. You migth think other people will think them silly or simple. On here they will not. That's one of CiC's strengths.

Do you have access to another computer; e.g. at home, where you will be able to post images?

As you read in the other post, I have the kit 18-55mm lens. And yes, I will be able to post without problem when Im not at work. I have a t3 internet connection and its a wonderful thing when trying to post photos with obscene resolution. Speaking of resolution, now that I have a 16.2mp camera, is it faux pas to post a pic with full resolution? and what does the tinypic "default" resize to (or does it keep the original resolution)? I wouldnt do it on a forum, but I was just curious. With great resolution comes great responsibility. Or at least the phrase goes something like that....

Hi everybody! I'm an 18 year old girl from just outside the Norwegian capital Oslo. I just learned about this page today, and decided to join right away. I've always had fun taking pictures, but since I bought my first dSLR camera, Canon EOS 60D, in April I've taken a lot of pictures. I'm just having fun with it, not really thinking "pro" yet but maybe I get there? As a newbie I'm excited about this page because of tutorials and tips from other photographers(:

Hello all,
I heard about this place during a recent meetup with other local photographers. As it stands now I'm shooting with a hand me down Rebel XT, luckily I have access to some pretty nice prime lenses. I enjoy shooting natural light currently, but soon hope to venture into the land of strobes. After seeing many of the contest winning photos I hope to learn some new insights into composition and increase my rather limited knowledge orf post-processing to really get my photos to pop.

I recently joined the Community, I'm very interested in the forums and I find the different calculators very useful, (The DOF Calculator, The Airy Disk Calculator, ETC).

I do a lot of on location shooting and internet is not available being so far away from any city, I do take my laptop with me and would like to be able to have access to the calculators, is there a way that I can upload the calculators to my laptop so that I can use them on location?

Hello and welcome to CiC. Excuse me asking, but is Versus your actual name. You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. You can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can do the same with your location.

I hope you'll find that CiC is a great learnign resource, with people more than willing to share their knowledge and experience. And, of course, there are the tutorials.

Hi everyone! I'm Renata living currently in Dubai. My better half decided I need to take up a hobby to get the creative juices flowing, since living on this side has its perks for traveling and exploring :-) thus, love to capture the differences in nature, people and architecture

Hi all! My name is Don from Ontario, Canada. I have the ever popular Canon EOS Rebel XS and have toyed with it very little over the last 3 years since I got it other than to take pics on the presets. I hope to learn more here to increase the quality and and "artistry" of my pics. My wife and I love traveling, especially to the caribbean, and the opportunity for photos is neverending.
