Hello, my name is Diane and I live in Weymouth, Dorset. I have been loved taking pictures for years, but now I have a Nikon D90 and haven't stopped using it! I find the tutorials excellent and look forward to following this site.:)

I'm glad you're finding the tutorials excellent. And I hope you will find being part of the forum just as useful. CiC is very much about learning and there are always lots of people on here very willing to share their knowledge and experience, whether than be in commenting upon your work, or helping with specific points that you may ask about. So please do join right in.

My name is Julian, I am a junior at Kent State currently studying to become a professional architect. I have come to this site as I have learned in my course of study that architecture and digital media are becoming one and the same and I hope to become a photo enthusiast. I appreciate any recommendations or greetings as i know i will require help at some point in how to stage/utilize the camera i will get.

Dave - Great to have you on board. Welcome to CiC.

I hope CiC certainly can match up to your expectations as both a learning resource and a place to just get absorbed in a photographic environment. As well as the tutorials, there are many folk on here very willing to help support colleagues, either with specific questions or thinking through issues. So, please don't hold back in coming into with your thoughts, ideas and questions.

The lovely thing about CiC is you don't get anyone trying to tell you how wonderful they are. If they do, we soon deflate that.

Hi, my name is Bob and I have decided to join this Forum so that I can learn more about photography in general and may be to take part in forthcoming competitions. I am also a member of a Photography Group at my local University of the Third Age in Midsomer Norton near Bath, and enjoy the social aspect of this group very much. We are all very much at the learning stage, but slowly we are becoming more proficient at our hobby. At present most of my photo projects are concerned with landscapes and nature, but I am also interested in architecture and still life.

Bob - I certainly hope you feel you've found the right place in terms of online fora. CiC is very much a resource for learning, with both this forum and the tutorials being concerned with supporting others in the development of knowledge and skills.

Just as an aside, did you know you can edit your profile and insert your location (town, area, city or country) so that it will then appear alongside each of your posts. Everyone finds that good to know and sometimes it helps ion the context of specific issues or questions.

I don't know what you level of knowledge adn experience is. But whatever it is, CiC is a resource for learning in which the tutorials and the discussions on this forum make up the two parts. So, please do feel able to join in discussions, as k questions, etc. And, of course, post images.

My name is Tom. I live in Bourbon, Indiana (USA). I started taking pictures with a Brownie box camera about 45 years ago. I wish I still had the camera and some of the pictures. Through the 1970s I used a Yashica (FX-2) SLR. Marriage and children put photography on the back burner for about 30 years. I caught the DSLR bug about 2 years ago and currently use a Canon T1i and 60D. I actually bought a film body, the Elan 7NE, but it mostly collects dust these days. I am practicing quite a bit with my 60D and just started using LightRoom 3, which I think is fantastic.

Looking forward to learning a lot from those of you with skills to pass on. Glad to be here.
