My name is Ann. I live in NYC. I began using my DSLR this past Spring. I have a Nikon D40 with a Nikon kit lens 18-55mm and a Nikon DX, AF-S 55-200mm tele lens.

I'm just learning how to use Manual settings and shoot RAW. I also installed the Adobe Elements 9 editing software. I have no idea how to use it! ;) Meanwhile I use iphoto on my MAC to edit.

I look forward to constructive critique's and answers to the many questions I have been saving up!! :)

Well, even that first page of your Flickr site tells us that here is somoone with that inherent ability to see and compose wonderful images. I love that style of getting in close on the detail, rather than going for the big panorama. I think it also shows wonderful powers of observation.

Delighted to read that you're now off the Auto settings and are shooting RAW. It really does up so many more options, even though at times it feels like you've taken several steps backwards. But it pays off in the end.

And this is one place where you can ask lots and lots of questions (there is no such thing as a dumb question on here). But also, of course, post up some images for comment. It is a good way to learn.

I've suddenly found CiC through a search engine. CiC is very good; the articles are clean and rich enough for a newbie like me :)

I come from Vietnam. I am a Linux system administrator, and photography would be one of my hobbies. I've just bought a Pentax K-r with a tele lense "Tamron 18-200mm" (I also have a kit 18-55 but I don't know how to it at the moment.) I love photography as I like to save some moments of the life.

I am reading some photography books and doing some exercices, and one of my "best" photo is http://vonhudieu.net/zen/picture.php?/138/category/16. I am also maintaining a plugin for Piwigo https://github.com/icy/icy_picture_modify, which may be useful for some Piwigo galleries.

I am glad to meet you all. I hope to meet good friends and advices from CiC :) If you have a chance to come to Vietnam, feel free come and say "Hi" to me at Sài Gòn city :)

CiC is a resource (tutorials and forum) with an emphasis very much on learning. In the forum part of teh site, I hope you will feel able to ask questions, join discussions and, of course, post your images for comment and constructive criticism.

Hello Everyone,
Bob here, I just happened upon this forum. Looks like a lot of good info here. I have lot's more to read!! I live on the Central Oregon Coast. Just recently I purchased a new Canon 3Ti. So far, so good. I'm really enjoying the camera, getting used to all the features, and learning how to use it. I've been using Aperture of all my photo's and have some plug-ins for it. i'll post some info in the appropriate forums. I'm so looking forward to reading more and seeing some of everyones images.

I come into the category of Old F*rt. I've been taking pictures for over 50 years. I've recently retired and want to spend some time doing what I love, but I need to get up to speed with all this digital malarky.
I hope to be a regular contributor to the forum as my technical knowledge (pre-digital) is quite extensive and, at the same time tap you all for the digital knowledge that I lack;)

Hi, I'm Dave and I found this site through an Internet search for 'HDRi' photography. I love the clarity of the images on the main website and decided to join...My HDRi website is http://www.hdrimaging.co.uk

Joker Here (Bob Jones). One of your other forum members (minichris) posted a photo of me surfing last night on our local news and I contacted him as I have been trying to do better surfing pictures myself. This looks like a great place to start. The shot he posted is called, "Cowabunga," but I don't see it on here. Looking forward to lots of interaction here.

And I'm very glad you did. Hello Dave. I hope you find that CiC is the sort of resource that you find suits you. Everything is all very informal about here, with everything being geared towards learning - helping each other with advice and through sharing knowledge and experience. You won't find people guarding their own secrets on here. It's not that sort of forum.
