Bob - A very warm welcome. It doesn't matter how folks find the forum. I'm just glad that they do.
You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. Did you know you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.
Look forward to all these surfing images that are going to start appearing.

Greetings from the land of the radical right and the looney left, (Washington D. C. USA).I am planning a holiday UK for the third time covering most of September. We plan to step off in London for a few days then take the train up to Edinburgh for a few days then wing it for a few weeks in the general direction of Skye. At least that is the current plan, it might well change based on what we hear from the folk on this site. We should love to get some Scottish landscapes with the heather in bloom and what ever else catches our collective eyes. All suggestions for what to see and what to do while in the UK will be gratefully considered as we wend our way across your beautiful country dodging suicidal sheep and of course the residents who insist on driving on the wrong side of the road:eek:

So, why do you want to come to the UK? It's just the same!
The Highlands of Scotland is home turf (although I don't live right in the Highlands now), so please ask any questions. Am happy to give ideas and suggestions if you want them.
Great to have you on board here at CiC. I hope you find it's the sort of forum where you want to stick around.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Ok, Why Scotland? Several reasons but the most compelling is my wife. While she loves to travel her idea of adventure is getting through airport security with only two hours till boarding. One of her colleagues spends a few weeks to months every year trekking in your fair land and he has recommended it to as repeatedly. But both of us being in our sixties, we have developed a penchant for civility and ease which was not so important to us 30 or 40 years ago. Also I am a descendant of Ulster Scotts. As for a question I need to find a 4 X 6 Graduated Neutral Density Filter in either London or Edinburgh before heading out toward the west coast.:)

Hi Everyone,
I read a lot of articles on this site for more than two years, but I joined the forum only now. My name is Gabriel, I live in Bucharest Romania and I am an amateur photographer with about 3 years experience. I am presently using a Nikon D300 with various lenses and did use in the past D60, D80 and D90 with ... other various lenses (lol). I am glad to be here as I find this really interesting.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi there,
I live in Auckland, NZ, where the excitement is really building for the upcoming Rugby World Cup.
I have been interested in photography for years. I was given a Box Brownie for my, I think, 10th birthday and it's been onwards since then.
My current camera is a Nikon D7000 and I love it. I mostly do landscapes but love photographing my neighbours little girls.
Looking forward to looking and learning with you all - Go the All Blacks!:)
Jill

Jill - welcome to CiC. Great to have you on board as a member of the forum.
Don't know if you've been lurking about and already understand what it (CiC) is all about. If not, then it's very much a forum for supporting and helping each other learn and develop knowledge and skills. So whether it's what you can contribute in terms of helping others, or learning from colleagues on here, I hope you enjoy it and take part in the life of the forum.
All Blacks. Who are they?
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
This is Ron Fucci and I've been an amateur photographer for many years, from homebrew black and white old school darkroom and processing to digital techniques over the past few years. I enjoy landscape photography the most. I'm very impressed with the usability of this site and the quality of the tutorials, having been all around the web and read many books. I would encourage Cambridge in Color to create their own photography book based upon the tutorials (nothing like holding paper in your hands). I'd be pleased to share what I've learned in photography. Greetings to all. Attached sample image is a bit of a departure from what I typically work on. Ron

And that is what CiC is all about, Ron. Delighted to see you coming in with the attitude that you're here as much to share what you know for the benefit of others, as to learn from people as well.
I hope you enjoy being part of CiC.
By the way, where are you? You can edit your profile and insert your location, so that it comes up alongside each of your posts.

Hello all, I am now a student at Gwinnett Technical college outside of Atlanta, I have been shooting for 6 years starting with a completely manual Minolta and working my way through 2 other film Nikons to my current camera a digital Nikon D80. After 30 years in a different career, I took a plunge to follow my passion and change to photography, its an exciting change for me and I am looking forward to the challenge. I am always looking for help in the learning process and am always open to advice, btw, am also looking for a good used 70-200Mm f.2 lense for my Nikon, had to throw that in, a starvin artist always is looking for a deal.

Sorry I can't help on the lens. I'm a Canon shooter.
By the way, you can go into Edit Profile and put in your location. That way it will appear alongside all your posts and others will know where you are from.I hope CiC proves to be a useful support to your college course in helping you develop your knowledge and skills.
If you have any questions or photography issues you want to discuss, then please just post up a message.

Howdy From San Francisco. I currently am Chair of the photo program @ the San Francisco Art Institute and have used the Cambridge site for years to show and explain. Now I've joined the forum group which was only recently known to me. Though I teach and put together our digital program my camera is the Panasonic LX3. A new image is posted.

Wow ... as they say!
Jack - a very warm welcome. Delighted you have joined up on CiC. As you can see, I've just been having a read of the website. You missed out the bit about being Associate Professor!
I hope you find the forum as useful a resource as the tutorials. As you will have observed, CiC is very much about learning and encouraging others to develop knowledge and skills. I hope you will bring your experience into that mix and enjoy being part of the forum.

Oh good. That's the sort of attitude that CiC tries to foster.
I hope you enjoy being part of this forum. It is very much about sharing and supporting and as well as you learning, it's obvious from your Flickr pages that you will be able to provide support and advice to others.
