Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi All,
My name is Garreth and I am an absolute novice. Have an interest in photography and on learning all there is to learn to develop my own style. I currently have a Canon EOS 60D with only one lens at the moment, which is the 18mm-135mm lens.
I reside in Durban, South Africa.
Look forward to learning all there is to learn.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Dear all who have joined during the period I've been sleeping and trying to earn some money at this thing we call work ----- Welcome.
Thank you all for signing up to CiC. As you'll have read at the top of the page, CiC badges itself as a learning community. That doesn't mean it's all boring and serious (well, I hope not). In fact it can get very silly and irreverent at times.
But what we hope it does mean is that everyone on here is committed to learning and, where possible, to helping others to learn.
So, I hope you enjoy being in this little corner of cyberspace and will join in discussions etc, on the forum.
So hello to:
Jorge
Cindi
Pravir
Kim
Eugenia
Albert
Nick
Garreth
Mark
And, by the way - Mark, that three legged thingy has a multitude of uses. And sometimes you can even put the camera thingy on it.

Hello, Ryne and welcome onto CiC.
The whole reason behind the site (the tutorials and the forum) is to help people learn and so that knowledge and skills can be shared. So, please don't hold back on any questions that you have and, of course, post up some images and ask people to give you advice and guidance on how to improve.
Good to have you on board.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Just a quick hello from me. I'm Megan, a semi-retired professional who was impressed with the quality of the tutorials on this site which I came across during a web search. While much of it is already known to me, it helps to refresh yourself and also to help out less experienced photographers. I aim to do both here once I've settled in and acquainted myself some more. :)
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello:
I have followed and admired CiC for quite some time and have finally joined.
As a science/technology geek I have also been interested in photography and art as long as I can remember. Given that everything is connected, with the advent of digital, I am passionate about exploring the blending of science, technology and art.
I am looking forward to learning a great deal from so many of the super photographers on this site and perhaps contributing a bit as well.

Megan - Thank you for coming straight into the forum with that attitude. It is what CiC is all about, as you've no doubt already seen.
I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and will be an active member for a long time to come.

Like Megan, who has joined immediately before you, it is great to read a post from people that illustrates their willingness to help and support others, as well as to gain learning themselves a sa result of being involved in CiC. As you say, it is that blending of science, technology and art that allows photography to be such a fascinating subject on so many levels.
So, welcome to the forum.

Hello All. I live in Northern Ireland right on the shores of Strangford Lough which is a very large inlet of the Irish Sea. It is a lovely location and Ireland is a really beautiful country. After many years using Nikon SLRs and DSLRs I have now changed down to a LX5 and find I take far more pictures. I also have an IMac after being PC all my life. I love it. For me it is elegant and effective and even at 75 these are attributes I appreciate.
My son told me of this site and I hope to learn much from you all.

John - A very warm warm welcome from the other side of the Irish sea. I was looking across to you a couple of weeks ago when we spent a week down in Dumfries & Galloway.
I hope you find that CiC is the sort of forum that you enjoy and that proves to be helpful. I think we tends to have a greater proportion of members from us who are amongst the more 'mature' sector of society! I look forward to seeing soem of your work.

Hello everyone.
I'm new here, and also I can say that I am somehow a newbie in photography. I started this hobby some 4 years ago, but I only recently purchased a camera. So, I would appreciate your advice and comments, and hope to constantly improve my skills. Dan

Hello
My name is Alton and I'm from Maryland, USA. I've recently taken up photography as a hobby after a 20+ year absence so I'm really excited about the advantages of DSLR shooting. I'll be a frequent visitor and, hopefully, contributor to the site.

I certainly hope that you will indeed be a contributor, Alton. That's the best way to get what you want out of the resource that is CiC.

Hi, my name is Noel and I live in Parkersburg, West Virginia USA. I have been learning and taking pictures for about the last 5 years. I have done several weddings for friends and relatives but my real passion is the great outdoors here in "Wild and Wonderful West Virginia." I look forward to learning from all of you and getting some comments on some of my pictures. CiC seems like a wonderful community.

Welcome, Noel. What a brave person you are (not for living in West Virginia, but for doing weddings!).
Certainly, CiC is all about learning together and about people sharing knowledge and experience. So, please do indeed come in with your questions and images for comment, but please also come in with your comments on images from others and join in discussions.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Everyone,
My name's Mike, I've been taking photos for longer than I care to remember, but have never studied photography and feel my photos have never really improved over time. I've recently joined a local camera club and now want to take my photography more seriously in an effort to be able to produce better quality images.
I came across Cambridge in Colour by chance, liked everything I saw, and am pleased to have decided to join. However, I must admit to being somewhat overawed by the stunning quality of images on show here. Makes me feel out of my depth before I've even begun, though of course I'm hoping they will also inspire me to improve.
Warm regards, Mike.
