Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone,
I'm Becca and I'm from Devon. I'm pretty much self-taught and have been into photography since I was about 5 (which was quite a long long time ago now). Kind of drifted away due to lack of funds and took it up again in 2003. I shoot digital, 35mm and medium format film.
I look forward to reading, learning and getting to know people here :)

Hi all, I'm from Sydney Australia, I've been a happy snapper for years, but after joining a photography club I found a whole new world of skills I would desperately like to develop to improve my photography.
I have entered a few club competitions and got a few credits, merits and image of the month which I am estatic about. I'm getting to be proficient with editing but there is some much to learn. My hobbies are anything relating to photography, photoshop, tenpin bowling, table tennis, volunteer at the Rural Fire Service.
Aspirations... to be as good as the A Graders in the club and maybe one day win some awards in international events.
regards ... Les :D

Hi, my name is Ann and after many years as a potter I took up photography and it has become my passion. From pottery I had a great understanding of texture and through photography I have discovered a new appreciation of light. The challenge of depicting landscapes in available light whether it be from the weather or the time of day, has become exciting and absorbing. I take particular pleasure in the sand environments near my home of Brisbane, Australia. Added to this I love travelling and depicting the world through the lens of my Canon 7D camera.

Well, Hey, Y'all. Yes, I'm a southern lady from Mississippi and formally educated in the field of psychology. I took up photography as a creative outlet and am evolving into a life style photographer. I am happiest capturing looks of love or delight. I am at peace capturing the image of the hawk, deer, cayote, hummingbird or aligator. I become quite content when I photograph flowers. So, after a long day of listening to folks' problems, I grab my camera and create something beautiful to share.

Hi, I'm Anne from Peterborough Ontario Canada. When we finally went digital, my husband and I donated all our SLR equipment to the local photographic society. We have Canon SX20IS cameras but I have been contemplating getting a digital SLR. But I don't want to be lugging around a backpack full of equipment as we did in the old SLR days. I've been thinking about the Samsung NX11 and perhaps one zoom lens. What would others recommend for a versatile lightweight SLR with a viewfinder please? Looking forward to learning from all you talented people. Happy shooting!

Greetings from Waukesha a smaller city in the North Central USA. I've been a semi-serious amateur photographer for many years. I moved from film to digital about ten years ago and I'm now using a Pentax K-5 dSLR with a variety of lenses that I've accumulated and I'm quite happy with it. I have a few photos posted on Flickr under the name Wbadger here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10556725@N02/

Hello, my name is Richard. I'm an Englishman living in America, working as a biologist at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. That's how I make my living. My photography is strictly for fun - I don't think I could bear to actually work at it. I came across this site through its excellent technical articles, all of which have taught me something. I photograph locally and on my various travels and post to a blog that I maintain on the My Opera website. I also contribute to and am a moderator of a small photographic group on that site called Shoot & Tell. You can find me on Facebook as well.
I have been a photographer on and off throughout my life without giving much thought to it until comparatively recently. I've worked with film, developing my own prints primarily for biologically related purposes, but I really began to get interested in photography as a hobby after the advent of affordable digital cameras. I started that in 2001 with a Casio point and shoot and have since migrated to Canon DSLRs and more lenses than I really need. I love the flexibility and reduced cost of materials that digital photography offers and it has encouraged me to explore further. I intend to continue.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello to one and all. I am Dave from Memphis, and as required for anyone who hails from these parts I actually do love blues music and barbecue. In moderation.
I have been shooting casual photos with nice cameras for decades. In my work life as a writer and editor (magazines and books) I worked closely with many outstanding photographers, and envied their ability to take consistently excellent photos. It has only been within the last few years, though, that I have endeavored to try and learn their secrets, and take better photos of my own. So, I'm not a beginner, yet I'm still very much a learner.
My main interests lie in close-ups, abstracts, night photos (anything with slow shutter speeds, actually), and some landscapes. I've been hanging around Cambridge in Colour for about a year, but am only now learning about this fine community of kindred spirits. With photography being, like most artforms, a fairly solitary undertaking, I'm hoping to participate frequently, learn lots, contribute something of value, and join in the festivities.
Nice to be here,
Dave in Memphis
