Hello, I am new as well. I am from Chattanooga, Tennessee (USA). I just purchased my first DSLR (Nikon D90) and am looking forward to learning from this community.
G'Day every one. I'm Justin, in Melbourne, Australia. Took up photography again in April this year with the advent of the Fuji HS20EXR. Having both fun and frustration learning how to use an electrical camera!!!

Yep, CiC is always open to Goddesses. Gods are eligible to apply as well!
Hello. And welcome to CiC. The forum, along with the tutorials are all very much about helping people learn. And one of the best ways is to ask questions. So, please do. People on here are always happy to help with advice and suggestions.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Hello Justin. Yep, when you get to the point of wanting to throw the camera against a wall and tell yourself that you should have chosen a much more straightforward (and less expensive) hobby, that's the time to step back, post up questions, moans, rants, etc on CiC. The you can dust yourself off and start again. We've all been there.
Hope you enjoy being part of the forum.

If you ask questions, then people on here will be willing to offer help. It is always useful if a person asking a question can be as clear as possible as to what it is they would like to know, or on what subject they would like opinions.
Thank you for joining CiC.

Hello everyone. I am sugata aka 'ronji' from guwahati in india. I bought myself a nikon d3100 two and a half month back and have been possessed by photography since. Previous experience has been shooting with a canon pocket point and shoot which i used during my treks. I have a nikor 18-55 kit lens, a nikor 55-300 afs vr, and a nikor 50 mm 1.8 AF( the auto focus does not work on the 3100). I have been shooting all kinds of things (landscapes, birds, portraits) and have not developed any preference. My basic idea of joining CIC is to get feedback to boost my learning curve. Sending a photograph i took yesterday of some cobwebs fluttering in the breeze (55-300). There has been no post processing except changing it to monochrome. Will appreciate feedback. Cheers!!!
Sugata
Hello and welcome to CiC.
I am very glad to hear of your enthusiasm for photography and hope that CiC can help to foster and develop your knowledge and skills.
That is a most impressive first posting onto the forum. You have captured it very well and the conversion is good. You say there has been no other post processing. Did you shoot this in RAW? If so, it looks sharp for having no other post-processing done to it.
Mise Dermot O'Brien from Ireland, love taking photos have been for past 15 years and learning every day, thanks to you all out there
Dermot - A warm welcome to you.
I hope that by being part of the CiC forum, all that learning can continue. But I hope too that your experience will be made available to others through your contributions. CiC is very much a forum about sharing. Fortunately we aren't populated by members who hold onto their precious secrets. Instead sharing knowledge is the order of the day.
So, I hope you enjoy being on here.
By the way, and I acknowledge the use of your real name within your username, but you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hello, my name is Ramgopal but most people who know me call me Ram. I am from UK and been taking photographs for a number of years. I am very keen to learn from others and my main interests are in macro photography and landscapes. Having looked at some of the pictures, I realize I have a very long way to go but I am determined to get there.

Hello Ram. Good to have you here on CiC.
Your statement displays what I think are the essential ingredients for learning - the appreciation that there is a lot to learn, coupled with the determination to make that journey along the learning curve.
A CiC is certainly set up as a forum to help you with that. Between the tutorials and the helpful support of people on here, I am sure you will gain knowledge and skills. And the important thing to remember is that everyone on here was once at the stage of development that you are now at. And they, like you, were determined to get there.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Ed photography has been a hobby of mine for the past 43 years. Started out making contact black and white prints and advanced to also making color prints. Now everything is digital for me. To be honest, really don't miss the chemical smells and clean up afterwards. I reside in New York USA. Still work full time but get out as much as possible to make photographs all year long.
I have been visiting the website as a visitor. I have enjoyed visiting the site. I finally decided to become a member and get involved. Looking forward to meeting other members in this group.
Hi, My name is Graham and I have just recently joined up. I am 65 years old and retired. I use a Canon G10 and Photoshop Elements 8 along with a Canon MP990 printer. I am keen to print some of my own photos and have recently calibrated my monitor using a Spyder 3 so hope I can now get results that represent the image on my screen from now on.
I hope to get answers to my questions as I progress down this printing "track ". From what I read on the "net" there is nothing simple about printing!
