Hi

My name is Brendan from Ireland (Dublin). Recently retired and just trying to get the hang of DSLR photography. I've a lot to learn as my previous experiencen was with point & shoot cameras. Just discoverd the CIC website and look forward to improving my technique through the excellent tutorials on the site.

Very glad that you like what you've seen thus far on CiC. I hope being part of the forum adds to that and allows you to accelerate along the learning curve. By the way, what DSLR have you got (although, thankfully, this is not one of those fora in which people are obsessed by equipment).

I'm very glad that you like the website. The forum and the tutorials both aim to help and support people with their development in photography.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Welcome Rob. I hope you'll enjoy being part of CiC. The forum and its partner tutorials both exist to help people learn and develop skills. So, please do ask questions and I hope you join in the discussions. And, of course, I hope we see some of those images.

Used to work as a semi-pro and now back into photography after a 25 year break. Had a Pentax K5 for 6 months now and enjoying it. Still got all of my old film stuff, camera's, lenses, enlarger, tanks, trays, etc.

Just need to get to grips with this new fangled way of processing:rolleyes:

It's like riding a bike - the technology might change but the basics remain the same and you tend not to forget how to do it!

just signed up and hoping to learn from you all with a view to taking better pictures and processing them better.
As stated before, loads of great talent willing to share there knowledge and experience.I look forward to using CIC
to enhance my photography and broadening my skills behind the lens.

I am always looking to expand my talents for photography and CiC looks to be a great site for it. There appears to loads of talent on the site and tons of useful information to read. I enjoy looking at others photographers work which I feel is a learning experience in itself. Great ideas come through others.

My name is Jason and I have just joined this site, although I have been browsing the great and helpful tutorials and other information you have up. I am still new to photography and have a starter kit in a Nikon D3100. I love learning about photography and trying the many and varied types out there, although my main passion if for the close up and Macro. Looking forward to getting involved here. Hi, My name is Pete, I started photography in the 70s as part of my technical studies. I now have more time on my hands, so I thought why not take up photography again.
So earlier this year I purchased a Nikon D7000 and two lenses. The technology, if not the science, has certainly changed! Gone is the beloved enlarger and darkroom smells of my youth.
I take most types of photo. macro, landscape, nature etc. But my real interest is "low light and night time" photography. Since I live in Grenoble, France there will be mountains in my photos when I start to upload a few. Members please feel free to criticise, bad criticisms can only improve the results, of any photos I may upload.

I am from India ,started with a small camera in my early days then had old electro 35 and few more and have now canon S5IS.Due to my earlier profession i could'nt do much on photography though the thirst for it was and is there.I am progressing and in the process of getting Nikon D 7000.I am sure i will benefit by joining this forum.
