Thank you so much MacKenzie. i hope its OK to call you with Real Name. i have spent a month and half to learn about nikon d3100 / d5100 / d7000 . My budget is $800 - $1K . i am still in confusion about making a right choice.
I was going through all sort of reviews and comparison all over the web and it seems D5100 is little better than D3100 in terms of was better with image quality . Some suggest its all about lens , body doesn't matter much and some suggest its all about the sensor and having built in motor is good(d7000) . etc .
My personal interest at this point of time is taking Macro / Nature / and My Family Photos. i have nothing against canon or any other brand. i just sort of liked Nikon as i have seen it with so many professional people i have seen so for in my life. i know this sounds silly .
so can you please advice me ? i am open to all inputs.

Julie Hello and welcome to the band of fellow amateur/enthusiasts. There are some folk on here who do make money through their photography, but the majority of us just spend money and have fun!
But what you will find, are a whole lot of people whose interest is in sharing knowledge and experience to help others learn. So, I hope you'll feel able to take part in discussions, ask questions and, of course, post up some of your work.

Hello, my name is Cheryl, I'm from sunny Florida. I'm a weekend warrior, shooting for years. Just recently upgraded to a D7000. Doing the "self taught" program. Love this sight for it's professional approach. Hope for constructive assistance and to learn more helpful techniques.

Hi, my name is Klaus and I'm new here. I'm mainly into special photography in ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR). Should you have seen BBC's "Richard Hammond's Invisible Worlds" a while ago, then you know my work. My main site where I publish is my BLOG http://www.uvir.eu, but be warned it is mainly about very special UV + IR photography. "Normal stuff" may be found on flickr http://www.flickr.com/kds315 mainly done using my Lumix cameras and a variety of lenses. Talking about lenses, http://www.macrolenses.de is my site and shows about 50% of the lenses I have (600++), but enough bragging now ;) Glad to be here!

There are a wide variety of specialist interests amongst the membership on here. But most importantly, CiC is about people being willing to share knowledge to help colleagues develop their skills. I am sure your particular interests and knowledge in your field will contribute to that.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
[FONT=Century Gothic]Hello Everyone! I am a photography student Nashville, Tennessee USA. It took me 30 years to discover I wanted to shoot photos for a living. That having been said, I am starting from scratch and knew very little about photography when I started school this fall; after finishing my first semester, I realize just how little I knew!
I am still discovering how broad the online photo community is but I do know that networking is one of my most valuable resources. I have used cambridgeincoulour.com for a few assignments in school and hope that it leads to knowledge about photography that can't be learned inside of a classroom. My favorite parts so far have been the tutorials and forums! Maybe one day I can return the favor to an up and coming photographer who is looking for the same things I am seeking as a student...
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi, I'm Rod, from Ontario Canada (just outside Toronto). I've done some photography throughout my years but nothing serious. Just bought a new Sony NEX 5N and a 28-210 zoom. Looking to get more into photography, as I also have a brother in Phoenix who does quite a bit of nature photography (http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=17516).
I do a fair bit of graphics arts as well (photoshop/illustrator) with my publishing company, so thought photography would also be a great complement.
Looking forward to enjoying the content here!
