Hi, this is Rich in the Atlanta area of Georgia. I am a new member here, confusing as it is right now, however I joined and I am enthusiastic to communicate about photography and improve. I have been taking pictures for many years and recently became more involved in improving my skills. I shoot an older Canon SX10IS which is an advanced point and shoot but I like it because it is not bulky and I am not dealing with other lens. I shoot mainly landscapes so the huge zoom is wonderful and I have been satisfied with the results so far. We will see what y'all think as I share. Thanks and I look forward to this experience.
hello everyone! I'm new and want to be a good photographer. what would be the best camera for a starter like me. thanks in advance!

You will see that I've removed your text advertising your business. That's not something we allow on CiC.
If your signing-up is genuine and your interest is on developing photographic knowledge and skills, then you are very welcome and I hope you enjoy being part of this forum. If your only purpose was to advertise your web design services, then I think you would be better finding another online resource.
Hi all i got a sony alpha 209 last year and have just been snapping at everything that i see i have been looking for a site like this for a while now were i can understand the advice and tutorials just like to say a simple thank you to all

Hello Bobby and welcome to CiC.
You don't say where you are. If you wish, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your location so that it shows up alongside all your posts, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and this is does help you develop your knowledge and skills.
Hi,
My name is Rose and I am from North Carolina. I have been interested in photography for many years, but have never done much in the way of photography. I am trying to decide on a camera and lense or maybe several lenses. I am happy to have found this web site.
Hello Rose and a warm welcome to CiC. I hope you find that the forum and the tutorials that sit alongside it, do help you to both develop your interest and enhance your knowledge and skills in photography as you grow and develop with whatever gear you decide to buy.
Once you start gathering information and start narrowing down your choices, please, if you wish, post up messages asking for views, ideas, and opinions. No-one can, of course, tell you what to buy, but people on here can help with advice and guidance - helping you consider what things to think about etc.
Thank you. I am currently thinking about purchasing the Olympus E-P3 to start and would like to purchase a lens that would be good for close up and far away. I know there is an ED 50mm - 200mm lens that sounds like it would cover the range I am going for. I would be using the camera for travel and I do not want to carry several lenses. any ideas???
Rose. I'm going to move this post into the Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum. That way more people who will be bale to give you advice can comment.
So, go into that section and look for the thread entitled - 'New Member - Query about new system. Maybe Olympus.'

Two Rose's in a row joining up to the forum. That's wonderful.
Welcome Rose and i hope that you too enjoy being part of CiC. I certainly hope that the forum can help you with your learning. Remember - the best way to find an answer to a question is to ask. So, don't be shy about posting questions up onto the forum.
I'm a retired professor who enjoys photography, especially of vacation travel. I've had fantastic luck with Kodak's higher-end digital cameras and thought as I retired I would step it up a bit. I bought a Nikon D3000 and 2 lenses. My main problem is that I have been, to be kind, somewhat underwhelmed with the color renditions of this camera. The pictures seem to have a color cast leaning toward tan or brown and they don't seem as "alive" as my Kodak shots. I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience or can suggest a solution to my problem. Thanks
Jim
Firstly, a very warm welcome to CiC. Thank you for choosing to join. I hope that you will not only enjoy being part of the forum, but find it an enormous help in terms of learning.
As to your question - I am going to move this into a new thread in the Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum as I feel more people who might be able to provide some useful guidance, will see it there.
Hi all
My name is Mark I live in Ontario Canada
I have been taking pictures for atleast 30 years but only have been doing it semi Pro for a few years now .
I currently have had the contract to do all hockey pictures for our local hockey league for the last 3 years and our ball league for two years .I currently use a nikon D90 and D80 I have according to my wife more lenses than I need .I use Photo shop ,Lightroom I also have vivensa add on also a few other programs whos name escape me at this time .I love doing sports and nature shots.I am currently working with another photographer learning the finer points of doing people and weddings .I love just grabbing my gear and going off to take pictures just to see what I can get.I am a member of NAPP aswell .overall I feel I can never stop learning new things from others and hope others can learn a few things from me
.
Hi, all! My name is Kelly and after loving B/W photography, and especially developing and printing myself, for years in high school and college, I lost access to a darkroom around 2000 and put away my SLR camera (I didn't see the point in taking pictures and having a lab print them for me...I know others do and love it, but for me, it was the printing itself that I loved almost as much as taking the shots themselves).
I recently got a new digital SLR and LOVE it! I feel like I'm back in the darkroom again...only better because it's in COLOR now (if I want it to be).
But now instead of being interested in architecture and nature like I was many years ago, I'm wanting to capture kids. (Having two kids in the meantime has obviously changed my perspective!) I hoping to really develop a lifestyle feel to my pictures...no posed, say-cheese, pics of kids but authentic, candid or semi-photojournalistic (because obviously they're at a photo shoot so it can't be completely photojournalistic as it's a "staged" setting).
I'm looking forward to feedback from others and learning lots from this community!
My blog that I've started for my photography is http://kellydempewolfphotography.blogspot.com

Hi everyone Happy to join you guys, guessing everyone likes to take pics! I live in PA and all my family lives in NC. I am a newbie and am very excited to learn. Years ago I took film and am finding digital to be a little confusing. Reading up on things and ideas everyday tho. My equipment is a Nikon D300 along with 3 lens and a flash. Next purchase will be a tripod. Talk to ya later!
Welcome Mark. Always good to have another Nikon shooter in CiC - I get the impression that the Canon guys outnumber us, not that any of us pay any attention to that .
Sounds like you have a wealth of experience that we can all benefit from. And hopefully, you'll get be able to learn from the members here as well. Looking forward to seeing some of your photos.
