I certainly hope that being part of this forum can help you realise your aspirations and achieve your goal.

I'm not sure that we have many people on here who can help with the animation side of things, although I'm sure there are some. But there certainly plenty who can and will help with photography.

So, please do ask questions, take part in discussions and, of course, post up some of you work for comment.

My name is Jack. I am retired and continuing to pursue my interest in photography. I started over fifty years ago with my first Kodak 35mm rangefinder. I have taken the Famous Photographers Correspondence course in 1967-68 and try to attend any seminars and classes I can, as well as read as much in photo magazines and on line to improve my photography. I am a scuba instructor and took up underwater photography about two years ago. That is my current passion, but I enjoy all types of photography, especially outdoor and nature photography. I am looking forward to sharing and learning with you. I currently shoot the Olympus E-520 Four/Thirds system.

Hello, My name is Tom, while I have had different cameras over the years (nothing to brag about), I have decided to get serious and learn to take better photos. I have 16 grandchildren, all of whom are quite active in sports, thus providing me many opportunities to get some great shots. I now have a Nikon DSLR D3100 camera with a 18-55mm VR lens that came as a kit. I'm looking for a decent lens that will help me catch those great sporting shots as well as fast action photos such as auto racing. Should you be so kind to drop me a suggestion on what would be an ideal lens to purchase, I would appreciate knowing why you have chosen the particular lens (besides ..it takes great shots). Thanks in advance for your suggestions, I look forward to hearing from you.......tlbuljac

Hello to all here; Nice to find an informative forum to pick up tips and participate in mini-comps. My interest in photography is just-because-I-love-it. Being able to record a moment and keep it is precious. I find myself looking through archival photos of trips of yester-year and memories are imbedded in each one. No photos; I may well have forgotten special places... Now I'm trying to include birds. I'm really hoping I will actually get the Sony telephoto-conversion lens (now discontinued), for my six-year old camera. The supplier in the U.S. has assured it will be available in stock in 4-6 weeks (my fingers are crossed). For the moment, my camera stretch is just 72 mm. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here..

I'm Stephen and a complete novice having bought my first SLR just a couple of weeks ago... I'm already hooked!
I have no professional ambitions with regard to photography. Rather, I have alway appreciated it as an art and what greater satisfaction than learning the science behind producing the wonderful images I love. Having read Just a couple of threads I'm pretty confident this is a great place to learn. I'm already seriously impressed by the wealth of knowledge among, and helpfulness of, the members.

I recognise that story. In my case, it was an AV1 all those years ago ....... and it was a lot more than 20 years ago, unfortunately!

Stephen - Welcome to the club. The obsessions just get worse and worse. What have you bought?

The lovely thing about this forum is that it's not one of those where the amount of gear you have and how much you spent on it matters. It's about how you develop knowledge and skills to get the best out of whatever equipment you do have. It's about creating and realising a vision for the images you want to create.

So, I hope you enjoy being part of CiC fro a long time to come.

I'v seen some very beautiful pics on CiC and I really like the clear tutorials. I've done several photographic workshops as a guest-teacher, so I know how difficult it is to make clear tutorials. My compliments to Cic and I hope to see much more nice things on this site.

Hi my name is Diane and I am just beginning my photographic journey. I am trying to connect with my relatively new Nikon D3100. I find that I love taking pictures of my son's Taekwondo tournaments, nature including my dog, landscapes and interesting archetecture. Really I like taking pictures of just about anything. I look on joining here as the first step in gaining knowlege because right now I have a lot of interest without much to back it up.

Diane - Everything else can be learned, but the passion and the interest has to come from within. So, you're in a pretty good place right now.

Congratulations, too, on the D3100.

There's a lot that won't make much sense at the moment and there will be times when you feel you'll never get a grip of it all. But please keep reminding yourself that everyone else on here was once at exactly the same point on the learning curve that you are at the moment. It's all about taking it once step at a time. And there are lots of people on here very willing to help you on the journey.

I am not a photographer...
I started drawing as a therapy. Then a friend Doctor offered me the works, photoshop, Corel draw, a cintiq tablet.
I was overwhelmed. But I absolutely love it, I was drawn to this site because of the tutorials that I found most helpful, and the quality of the pictures, amazing.
I had a web site, but health problems made me forget to renew it.
I am working on a new one. I had a few pieces in exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis. I also have a piece in the Kinsey Institute. I will be most interested in getting feedback.
