Hello everyone my name's David Mansaray. I've had a DSLR for a few years but I consider myself a beginner. I've dabbled with photography over the years but I've never really taken it seriously - that's changing.

I'm an aspiring documentary film maker and photography will assist me on my journey. I believe everything is interconnected and we can learn from all forms of art.

I've learnt a lot from the articles on this site and I hope to learn more from the great people here.

hi everyone, i'm tim from sydney, australia. i was into photography in the early 1980's and then career and family slowed me right down. however, i bought a nikon d90 about 3 years ago and have been getting back into it more and more every year. Mind you i must be getting old because i dont pick things up as quickly as i used to!! Anyway I'm fortunate as i live on the beach and as a result get to take quite a few shots of sunrises, water, waves, etc. My mission for 2012 is to master the use of manual photography - my apologies master is probably the wrong word; i'm not sure what the right word is but it's definitely not master!

I just looked at your photos on your web-site. There are a lot of really good shots there! I did notice that most are in B&W. Is that your preferred medium? and if I may ask why ?

Hello everyone, Just joined up and wanted to say hello. I have been involved in photography for many years and now would like to expand my horizons and learn new techniques. I have a Nikon D-7000 and just getting used to it. Can't wait to jump in and learn.

hello again. For me, photography is about line, shape, tone and texture. And I feel I can explore these much better in B & W images ratehr than in colour. I enjoy seeing what can be achieved through the range of greys.

I'm sure you'll soon master the wonders of digital. But the fact remains, of course, that the ability to 'see' and compose the wonderful image still rests in the eyes of the photographer, no matter what your using to capture it and that skill will noit, I am sure, have left you.

Hello... my name is Lyn..Ive not been doing this for very long, but got a Nikon D3000 second hand,mainly for my daughter who is really very good and have found that I use it more than her. Im interested in all types of nature photography but would like to delve into portraits when my confidence grows and i understand my camera more.

The one way to get more confidence is practice, practice, practice. And the nice thing about this forum is that you will get whatever help and support you want/need through the advice and guidance from people on here who are very willing to share their knowledge and experience.

Hello folks! My name is Warren from Michigan, US. I was introduced here by my Dad (Ed Marfori) and told me to join in. Still new with Photography, im excited to see other peoples perspective and concepts. I can't wait to pick up more tips & tricks from the pros and learn new ways to take photos.

Im currently using canon 7D and i know i still have a lot more to learn about this fascinating camera. :) cheers to all!

Although you'll find stuff on here to a professional standard, there are very few members of CiC who make money from photography. Like you, they are all hobbyists, doing it for the enjoyment and pleasure it brings. And the nice thing is that poeple are very willing to share their knowledge to help others, like you, to develop your skills.

hi folks ive been interested in photograghy for many years on and off then digital came along how it has changed but i still take photos as if i had 35mm cant change old habbits im interested in sport wildlife and landscape hope to post some photos soon cheers bob

Nothing wrong with that Bob. The skills of composition and the creation of am aesthetically pleasing are still the same no matter what sort of box you're holding to capture the light. The technical bits are a bit different, right enough.

Hello, I consider myself a novice photographer, but have found a great deal of pleasure trying to improve my skills using books. I live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in the middle of beautiful mountains and wonderful wildlife. I am looking forward to being part of a community where I can view excellent photography, have others give feedback on my work, and learn from those who share an interest in this art form. I also hope I can help others from time-to-time.

Hi,
I've been browsing/reading/learning from CiC for some time and finally taking the time to complete the registration process.
I've been interested in photography for a long time but I never got past the "happy snapper" stage - even now after 6 month since I've got my first DSLR, I consider myself to be a "sunday photographer".
I am not going "out" very much and most of my pictures are taken from my window (I am blessed with a great view of the Derwent River and of the city - Hobart)... I still haven't got the "perfect shot" for that view :)
I am mostly interested in low light photography, followed by nature photography.

I would like to thank to the people running CiC for making this all posible, for giving us the opportunity to "meet" people with the same interest and to learn from them.
