Hi everyone. My name is Margie and I live in the frozen state (at this moment in time!) of Wisconsin. I learned about this site from one of my instructors at a 4-H workshop and it is amazing so far. I am very interested in learning how to do portraits but I also like nature photography. I'm looking forward to reading the tutorials and maybe I'll get brave enough to post some of my work.
Margie
Hello Margie - Great to have you here and thanks for signing up. I hope you'll enjoy being part of CiC.
On the subject of portraiture and if you haven't found it yet, you should have a llok at the series of lessons that Colin (one of the Admins on here) posted up. You can access them from here.
Hi
My real name is Carolyn. My Flickr page is here

As you can see my enthusiasm far outstrips my expertise which is what brought me to this excellent site.
Hi, My names Johnnym and I live in Cheshire UK. I've had a interest in photography for a long time. I have a business as a picture framer and gallery. About two years ago I bought a large format printer. for doing canvas and giclee printing. I have a Nikon D200 and D70 cameras and at the moment am in the process of turning a room in my shop into a studio.
Hi Carolyn,
Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have you join us.
I have a sister living up near Pickering (where I saw you went for the war weekend), in fact she's a CiC member too, but not here as often as she should be (I bet she won't see this!).
I also notice we share a common camera; the trusty Fujifilm S6500, that's what I started serious photography with, then passed it on to my daughter.
One last thing, could you do us a favour and pop "Carolyn" into the Real Name field please?
(via Edit Profile) It'll save people keep asking you
All the best,
Thanks Dave, I have now added my name in the profile field. We 'do' re-enactment and have been to the Pickerng War weekend for the last 6 years, until 2009 recently displaying outside at the Beck Isle Museum.
I love the Fuji, but now we live on the Holderness coast near Spurn Point I was missing my very first 'proper' camera, an ancient Zenit E so have just acquired a Nikon 70s DSLR that I am currently finding my way around. Been spoiled by all the automatics and point and shoots over the years inbetween, but they just feel not enough to interpret the landscapes , seascapes, wildlife and skies here. Now all I have to do is learn how to do it!
Carolyn
Hi
I am Ravi,i am from India.I am a chartered accountancy student and a wannabe photographer.I own Nikon D7000 and fujifilm S2950 i have hardly used them. Will take up photography seriously.Looking forward to great learning experience and some good friends.Keep rocking folks
Hello Ravi and welcome to CiC. The forum, as well as the accompanying tutorials are aimed at helping people develop knowledge and skills. So, I hope you enjoy being part of this community.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Hi, My name is Julie and I've been "playing" with photography for about 12 years. I have an Olympus EVOLT 300 camera that I love and I am ok shooting pictures with it. I mostly take pictures of my cockatiels for sale or to post on my web site.
My father recently passed away and I have inherited a lot of photo lenses from him. I don't know enough about equipment to know whether they will marry up with my camera or not or whether I can purchase some type of connector so that they will work.
I also use PhotoShop regularly and want to expand my knowledge base on using it as well.
Julie
A very warm welcome to CiC. 'Playing with' photography is fine. But I hope being part of this forum can help you take it up to the next levels of enthusiasm and knowledge.
If you're not sure about those lenses you've inherited from your father, then get some details off them and post up some questions in the Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum. You can be assured that there will be someone on here who will know the answers.
I'm Judith. Retired. Live in Greater Manchester in the UK. Like travelling and like taking photographs of all occasions most days of the year. My first post was taken in Glacier Bay, Alaska in June 2011.

Wonderful to have you here on CiC. If you've been looking in on the site for any time, you'll know that both the forum and the tutorials are very much geared towards supporting people with their photographic development. So, I hope you find it both useful and enjoyable.
You refer to posting an image. But there is not one visible in this post. If you're having any problems then please, in the first instance, read through the thread, 'How do i post images ...' that you can access via the HELP/Rules tab on the menu bar at the top of the page. If that doesn't help, then please do call out. Someone will come running to help.
Hello everybody, my name is Michael and I'm living in the southern part of Bavaria right next to the Alps. First contact with photography at the age of twelve, learned the basics with my Dad's old-fashioned Voigtländer "Vitomatic IIa (Skopar)", throughout the years varying photographic activities (too often slowed down by family and job), reviving interest since first experiences with the digital world (first point-and-shoot, later DSLR), focused on spheric panoramas a few years ago, currently keen on HDR. All this time I was running through a constant process of learning and recently discovered the CiC forum as an inspiring source for it.
Hi Johnny,
You put this post in the image help thread, so I have moved it to the welcome thread to reply.
That sounds like an interesting project you have going on there.
Colin, one of the other mods, does similar, but he's in NZ, so not in competition
Which town/city are you in?
