Hello people,
I've just joined the forum and here's a little about myself.
My name is Jens, I'm from Copenhagen, Denmark and I am 62 years old.
Way back in the Sixties I started taking photographs, but somehow or other I stopped and there was a gap of 30+ years before I took up photography again and got myself
a digital camera around the year 2000. It was an Olympus, relatively cheap and easy to operate, and after a series of diffrent cameras I am currently working with a Nikon D300.
My favourite object is the portrait with the occasional detour into urban-photography and landscapes.
I strive to capture som kind of essence in the people I photograph, creating an atmosphere of trust and well-being.
Anyway, I am here to learn and if possible participate with some of my own advice

I have had a Canon Powershot SX130 IS for almost Three moonths now. I made a remarkable step forward since I decided to never pass a day without taking a photo or learning some new stuff. But I have one query, What the best can my camera gives me? And what technique to use? I've completely switched to Manual mode and I can make better photos so far, But I need more techniques and tips...

What you need to do is read review sites which you may have already done.Do you have the opportunity to visit a camera store and handle each of these models? That will be the point of final decision for you, as both cameras will help you produce high quality images. At the end of the day, it will be a matter of personal choice.

I would recommend the best place to start your learning is by reading the tutorials here on CiC. Tjhis will help you discover what techniques and tips will be important. . Once you havea basic understanding of these, you can post up more specific question in the forum if you feel the need to get more detail.

Hi to all. My name is Mark and I live on the east coast of North Carolina, USA. I am a very keen landscape photographer and have just started work as a professional photographer with Lifetouch (Yearbook and school photography etc). I have been taking photos for a number of years now and am obviously still learning, that is all part of the fun.
I grew up in the wonderful, expansive highlands of Scotland and try to get back there as often as I can to "touch base". That being said, North Carolina has more than enough photographic opportunities and I am still discovering them. Again, all part of the fun.
I have joined this forum to learn from others who have had the opportunity to gain ample experience, and perhaps to impart a little of my knowledge to those who are willing to listen

As a privileged member of this and any community, a shake of the hand is OK for some, a kiss on each cheek is better for others. At present the walk has led me into the geometry of the picture making process. The imagined is above as a point of reference using video mode in Microsoft ICE. While this pictorial mosaic is as imperfect as it is, it is at the least an attempt to contain the whole of the sphere from one unique point of view and a 360x180 degree x 3 times the perspective in that both bird and worm eye views are not to be ignored. A line can be a point and a point can be a line as the picture is merely a map and is not ever the territory in itself but at least we have an idea of what to expect when we arrive. Bottom and top of bottom half of picture is a pole and a point and a line at the same time. liv+luv=peat:<)

Hello again! I managed to fire off a quick introduction last night after joining this forum, and I am not even sure if it got "through". I couldn't find it here this morning. That being said, I was a little tired yesterday when I wrote it, so I probably ended up doing something wrong anyway.......

My name is Mark Swiffen and I am 50 years old. I grew up in Scotland and spent 13 years traveling the world in the British Army. After leaving I spent a further 20 years living and working in Germany. I started taking photography seriously about 8 years ago. It was my brother who basically introduced me to it. He was good with a camera and I thought I would just "give it a go". As I said, that was a good 8 years ago. I started with macro photography back then and was amazed at how differently I saw the world after having done that for only a few weeks. One develops an eye for images, looking and seeing things properly instead of "looking through" them, at least I found that to be the case.
I am now a keen landscape photographer and that brings me to the reason why I joined this forum. I have been playing with the idea of using ND filters whilst composing my shots. I searched the web for some good info on tips as to how to use them properly. The tutorial given in this forum (https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tu...ty-filters.htm) was by far the best I had come across. This is a good site with some very active members. I joined to learn from their experience and perhaps pass a little of mine on.
I was also pleased to see that the images that are uploaded here are very small (I am talking about file size). This prevents anyone "copying" the image and making a decent print out of it for free. That was something that really concerned me with other forums.
I look forward to the interaction within the forum and to perhaps making a few new friends
