I am Jeganathan. I am 60 years old. I live in India with my wife. Our only daughter is living in USA with her husband and their 5 year old son. I retired from the services of a Nationalised Bank as a Chief Manager in 2010. I was owning a Yashica FX3 long back. Last July, I bought a Canon Rebel T2i with the kit lens EF S 18-55 IS. For quite some time I did not take photos in Manual mode. Now I take all photos only in Manual Mode. I am a learner still. However, I have lot of passion for photography and interested very much about the lenses and lighting technics. I know a little about the inter relations of aperture, shutter speed and ISO and some thing about the composition. I feel lot of limitations with the 18-55 kit lens. Now I propose to buy a lens which will be helpful in portrait and macro photography.
Hello to the CIC "cloud-in-the-sky" from the Milehighguy living 5280 feet above sea level in the Denver, CO, USA metro area. Just retired from the frustrations and crises of the US commercial banking and real estate finance business. I am ready for, and excited about entering, the third-act of life and anticipate photography, travel and volunteer work will be part of its foundation. My brother and I just concluded a photograhpy course at the University of Denver put on by John Fielder. (Highly recommend checking out his nature photography at http://www.johnfielder.com ) I have opted for a "field rifle" rather than "heavy artillery" in buying a Fujifilm X10 rather than a large DSLR. It's much more compact and portable for travel and hiking and seems to provide the power and function I will need to get the photobug nourished in the short-run. If anyone is running the x100 or x10 gear would love to connect. Living between the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and the wide-open Great Plains provides tremendous opportuities for nature and wildlife photography. Hope to share some of my results and get some good, honest productive feedback from the membeship. Looks like a good group from aroundthe world which is extremely interesting and exciting.

Hello from Nashville, Tennessee. I just joined this site. I am a novice photographer with a desire to become more knowledgeable about digital photography. I have a web site where I sell images of my father's art work and I am having trouble getting quality images that can be printed in sizes up to 36" x 26". Most sizes printed would be smaller. SO, I need to buy a camera that will take images capable producing a large print image. Any suggestions?
I hope Jeganathan and Roger don't mind me joining their welcome posts together, because it's not every day you get two bankers retiring and then joining CiC within a few hours of each other. And both living in parts of the world that offer amazing opportunities for photography.
So, welcome to you both. Great to have you here.
I hope you enjoy being involved with the forum and that, for you, it lives up to its reputation of being one of the best photography learning resources available on the internet.
Ray, Red and Gary
A collective hello and welcome to you guys as well.
I'm gada that you've found CiC and hope you enjoy being part of it. Hopefully you've seen enough of the site by now to know it's pretty informal and a place where ideas and views can be shared, all with the aim of development knowledge and skills.
Hello everyone.
My name is Alan and I live in Lincolnshire, UK. I am retired and have numerous hobbies, one of which is photography.
My current DSLR is a Canon 450D, which I would like to upgrade in the future. I also have a Canon T90, which I purchased new back in the mid 80's, together with a number of FD lenses. In addition to my digital lenses, Canon and Sigma. I have recently started to purchase a few M42 fit manual lenses, Zeiss, Helios and Vivitar, which I use on my 450D with an adapter.
Not much more to say at the moment, be back soon.
Alan
Hope so, Alan. Great to have you here. A very warm welcome.
I hope you enjoy what you see and read and that you'll be part of he forum for a long time to come.
By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
This is my first post here - I have just recently gotten into photography, which I've been wanting to pursue for quite awhile now. I checked out all the digital cameras out there and decided it was simply too expensive, so I've decided to just go mechanical all the way - great equipment and comparatively cheap, plus I have a great desire to use a darkroom. And so, I'm working with two cameras - a Nikon F Photomic FTN for general use and a Rolleiflex T1 for portraits. I intend to stick with black & white to start with and then go to color, mimicking the timeline of photography itself, though it occurred to me that just the name of this site might be an indication that I'm in the wrong place, though while here today I learned what "depth of field" was. Anyway, nice to meet you all - cheers.
Delighted that you've found this forum and decided to sign up.
As you imply, most of the world is now working with digital, but there are still a lot of people who believe that film offers a better image and and more enjoyable experience.
So, it will be great to hear of your development and to hopefully see some of your work as it emerges.
