Yep, that's kids for you!
Hello Al and welcome to the forum.
As I hope you've seen, CiC is very much about trying to help people with their development in photography. As well as the tutorials (which I hope you find useful) this forum includes a lot of people who are only too willing to share their knowledge and experience. All you have to do is ask the questions.
By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi, I am Jiuan from Taiwan. I consider myself is very naive about the photography. I joined a local photpgraphic class a month ago, since then I tried very hard to catch up. I found the tutorial you provided is very helpful, so I join the forum.
I have 2 cameas both are from my daugthers, one is Panasonic Lumix with G 20mm lense and Cannon EOS Kiss X3 with 18~55mm & 50mm lenses. I tried both and found taking picture is very enjoyable.
I wish I may post some pictures in the very near future and looking forward to get some comments!

Hello and welcome to CiC. Thank you for joining the forum.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I have been here a little while now, but haven't introduced myself yet.
Regarding the name ... I've been known as Machka for years now. It started as an online nickname, but has become an in-person nickname used by family and friends.
Regarding interests ... I am a cyclist who loves travelling and exploring. In the world of cycling, I'm mostly into long-distance cycling and touring.
Regarding photography ... I have been taking pictures for years too. My interest grew as I started travelling more and more ... taking hundreds of pictures on various trips, and carrying a camera with me when I cycle. And then I moved from Canada to Australia and wanted to share my new country with my family back home, so I took pictures of everything. My husband was a journalist, and did some photo journalism, and he encouraged me to become a bit more serious about photography ... and has been giving me lots of advice.
I started with those little disposable cameras ... then moved into an Olympus point-and-shoot which served me well for my purposes for 6 years. Then several months ago, I picked up a Nikon point-and-shoot, and liked the extra features it had over the older Olympus. And then just a couple weeks ago, I purchased a Canon 60D.
I'm finding the Canon 60D a little bit overwhelming, but I'm experimenting and learning ... and I'll see where this takes me.

And that's what it's all about. Manuals etc are fine and have a role to play. But there's no substitute for just getting out there and practicing and using the thing.

Hi. I'm Eve from Washington state, in the NW corner of the US. Here in the foothills of the Cascades, I am surrounded by great scenery. My latest project is taking images of scenery and wildlife along my local roads and byways and altering them in Photoshop.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Annette. I have been taking photos "forever" but only joined the digital world a few months ago. I'm discovering that even though the principles of DSLR are the same as FSLR I'm having to learn all over again. Quite humbling since I thought I was pretty good. I love photography, culinary arts, gardening and quilting. I manage to combine these loves but taking regional cooking classes when I travel, visiting gardens which inspire my own small yard and "painting" with photos and quilts.

What a wonderfully creative life you lead. I hope being part of CiC can play a part in continuing to make photography a part of that.

Hi, I'm Pam. I'm a novice photographer for about 2 years now. I belong to a local Camera Club and have been participating in our competitions for a year. I would like to get comments and criticisms about some of my photos. I have found the website to be very helpful, but need to find time to make better use of it!
Greetings from Northamptonshire
Greetings friends. I recently took up photography after being away from it for 20 years. I treated myself to a Canon 60D and have enjoyed learning how to use it and learning how much more I need to learn. I just wish I had more time to dedicate to it. I'm really interested in HDR imagery right now and I'm also looking into high-key and low-key photography. Here's a link to my HDR album (with my first and only HDR image:D): https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/fo...p?albumid=1996 . Feel free to comment...I'm always open to honest criticism.
