Hello and welcome to CiC.
You haven't told us who you are or where you are. You've maybe seen that most of us use our proper names on here - it's more friendly. You can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
The good thing about this forum is that's it's not about what camera gear you have, but about your passion for photography and the desire to increase your knowledge and skills.
I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and that you'll take part through asking questions, posting images etc.

Hello all. My name is Jim. Used to dabble alot in 35mm B&W but moving and jobs it fell away. Now into digital and am having fun trying to learn. So much to learn and so little brain space to put it in. Should be loads of fun especially with such a diverse group from around the world to converse with. Looking forward to a great time.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi every1.
I am 28 and I am from México City. I just got started with photography this year, I have been drawn to visual arts even that I am an engineer. I found the idea of a photographic community very appealing and I really liked the competition and Project 52 ideas, the comments for the fotos are really helpful. I hope i can learn a lot here. =)
Ohh by the way I am using a EOS Rebel T3 to shoot all my photos with the kit lenses (18-55mm 3.5-5.6 IS II).
Sorry for my english, I am not really used to write to much (in english =P).

Jim - Great to have you here. A warm welcome to you.
You've followed the same pattern into digital as many of us on here. And I think the bit about lack of brain space also applies (to me anyway)!
I hope you like what you find here on CiC and that you're attracted to stick around.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Donald,
I went to your site and looked at some of your pictures. I was taken with "Ladeside", all the contrasting in it is beautiful along with the composition. Also, I was really taken with "Across Balcanquhal". The lines and contrasting colors of animals and fields. Really nice. Hope my eye can develop with time somewhere even close to yours.
Jim

Hello all,
My name is Ken and I've fallen deeply into the digital photography black hole. I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California (Boulder Creek).
So much to learn: cameras, lenses, settings, techniques, processing, posting and printing. The tutorials on this site are outstanding! I've already responded to a couple of threads on Cic. I'm very fortunate in being retired and having been able to travel extensively over the world the last 10 years (about 60 countries). I mainly shoot animals, birds and landscapes but the grandkids growth is very well documented.
We'll be spending July in East and Southern Africa on a custom journey I put together. Africa is just an incredible place for photography. This will be my 5th trip.
Happy trails to you and may your light always be right and may you have the right lens on the camera.
Ken

I hope you'll find that this is a place where fellow enthusiasts are always very happy to share knowledge and experience and where the exchange of ideas is carried out in a friendly, respectful and constructive way .... with a bit of fun thrown in for good measure.
I envy your thirst for and ability to, travel. Just a wonderful thing to do. I hope we see some of your images up here on the forum.

Hi my name is Ruth and I live in the south east of England near the sea. I have had a camera for many years but would really like to improve my technique as we are off to Australia and New Zealand in the summer. I would like to try and get my eye in for the more unusual shots - rather than put my camera on continuous and hoping that at least one photo will not have camera shake, be in focus and have the correct exposure.

I hope you quickly feel that you've come to the right place to learn. If you've had a look at the forum already, you'll have seen that lots of people are very willing and able to offer lots of help and support - you just need to ask the questions.
By the way, what camera are we talking about that won't do what you want it to?
And ........ You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. Did you know you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Please do post up any questions and, of course, post up some of your work for comment and criticism. That's one of the best ways to improve.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I have a bit of a problem "seeing" a good picture but also I don't always get my settings correct.:o

The first bit is all about practice, practice and practice - training yourself to 'see' images. It's seeing the world as a photographer and not just a casual observer. The looking becomes much more intense.
The second part is about learning - learning what works when ... and what doesn't.
All easily addressed! Just stick with CiC.
