Hi Donald, Glad to be a member. I enjoy the new ideas from seeing others work. I'm also a Scot but currently living in Los Angeles.
Welcome to those who have posted a message here between the time I went to bed and got up again!
Great to have you all here and thanks for joining.

And ...... So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hi. My name is Patty and I'm from Waterford, Ireland. I am an enthusiastic amateur trying to learn all a I can about taking good photographs. I have found the tutorials on this site extremely useful so I am joining the forum in the hopes of learning even more. I am currently working with a Nikon D7000, 18-200 and 70-300 lenses. I look forward to plenty of constructive criticism once I start posting some photographs. Thanks for providing such a great asset for keen photographers everywhere.
Hi there
I've been an occasional lurker here for a while but have decided to get more involved as I've seen that the quailty of images and help/tutorials is really high on this site.
I suppose you could call me a born again tog as I used to be very active before the days of digital and used to have a darkroom in my garage in which I used to attempt to produce acceptable B & W prints. After a gap of 20 years, largely caused by the arrival of 3 kids and my very active sail racing committments, I started up again but this time entering the digital world with an interest in not just the shooting but the processing as well.
In common with many others I do not have as much time I'd really like to take pictures and so my improvement curve is more gentle than I would like. This forum I'm hoping will help with that with good feedback and information.
I live in the UK in a place called Mersea Island which is, as it's name suggests, a proper island albeit with a tidal causeway to get on and off.
To start off with this site I have just entered mini competion #983 and will also probably submit an entery into the B&W mini comp.
cheers
Hec
I certainly hope so, Patty. A warm welcome to you. I hope that as well as learning, you also enjoy being part of this online community. I think you'll find a fairly friendly bunch of people who obviously all share the same passion and who enjoy constructive discussion and the sharing of ideas.
I look forward to seeing some of your images being posted up.
Hello there. Is it Martin or Hec you prefer to be a called? If the latter you can, if you wish, amend the details in your profile so that that is what shows up on the side bar.
Thank you for joining CiC. Like so many of us you are one who has returned to the fold after many years away doing minor things like raising a family. But now you've managed to get back to what's important!
I hope you enjoy being involved in the forum
Hello,
My name is Manasa, I'm from Bangalore, India. I'm 23 yrs old.
I finished a Masters' course in Clinical Psychology in July 2011, but I find that I've lost my faith in the subject, so I'm looking for new things to do, as well as a career option I'd like better.
I have been using a Canon PowerShot SX20IS for about two years now and it's an excellent camera, however, it doesn't allow for experimentation so I'm looking to buy the Canon 7D (still saving up for it).
I generally like portrait photography, but I will click anything that catches my eye.
I want to learn more about the theory behind photography, more than just the basics, and also the little tricks.
Thank you
Hi All,
I'm Dave and I'm from the wonderful county of Essex in the UK. Rediscovered photography some 5 years ago when I purchased a (well) used Canon 350D on impulse. Sadly, that never lasted long and I upgraded to a shiny new 30D which is looking a bit battered these days but still performs admirably.
I'm always seeking to improve my eye, technique and post processing skills with the ultimate aim to capture great shots with every click.
Improving slowly (like a fine wine) but sometimes lacking inspiration.
Manasa - Hello and welcome to CiC.
I hope this is a resource that you find can help you develop your knowledge and skills and contribute to your photographic development and enthusiasm.

Welcome Dave and thanks for deciding to sign-up to CiC. I hope it proves to be useful as well as an enjoyable decision. And hopefully being part of the forum can help you find the inspiration that sometimes is lacking. But .......... that happens to us all: Those times when it doesn't seem worthwhile taking the camera out of the bag because you can't think what you'd want to do with it. So, don't feel that you're the only one.
Anyway, I hope you'll become an active participant on the forum.
Hello. I'm Jean-Claude Harris, one half of ourdigitalworld. I've been learning photography basics with a Nikon D3000 for twelve months and Photoshop CS5 for about two years. I like to give timeless feels to shots, often emulating old print and photo techniques. I've found your tutorials to be a great help. Pity there aren't more hours in the day.
Hello, I am a new member and hope to learn more about photography from all the information and discussions on this site. I have been doing photography for a botanical garden in Virginia for about two years and I am learn every time I come home and go through my many photographs how much there is to learn. I hope I am putting this post in the right place!
Jeannie
Welcome Jean-Claude. Thanks for joining CiC.
I'm glad you like what you've seen so far on the site. I hope that joining the forum will add to the opportunity to develop your photographic knowledge and skills. It is very much the intention that the forum, via the discussions held and the advice and ideas put forward, proves to be as useful a learning resource as the tutorials .... as well as being some fun.

Hello Everyone,
I just joined the forum. I am currently in Texas. I really started in photography when I got my first digital camera. It was a Nikon Coolpix 990, and I got it right when it first came out. Now I'm shooting with a Nikon D80 DSLR. I'm interested in all types of photography, but I'm currently shooting a lot for stock agencies.
