Oh well, we at least know that vision and imagination are not lacking and they, I think, are amongst the most important attributes. all the technical stuff can be learned.
Welcome David. Thanks for signing up.
I hope you will enjoy being part of the forum and that it does help your learning and development.

So plenty of opportunity and inspiration.
Soren - You are indeed on the doorstep of some wonderful locations. We travel to and from York reasonably frequently and, to make the journey interesting, always stick to the A68 (turning right at Otterburn) and join the M1 beside Darlington. I love that road because the scenery is so wonderful (Weardale included). And, of course, there is the 'must stop' 68 Cafe at Toft Hill.
I'm glad you've enjoyed CiC and been persuaded to sign-up. I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and I look froward to seeing your images and to you being involved in discussions and debates in the various threads..

Thanks Donald. When I review my original post, the word 'Sticky' appear in ten subject heading...what does that mean.
:)

No worries, David. All that means is that this thread is 'Stuck' And what that means is that if you go the 'Forums' and then choose 'Meet the Members', you will see at the top of the list there are, I think, 4 stuck threads. They always stay at the top of that list. So, when people go in to to look at that list, those 4 are the first they see.

Hi there - I'm Ian Marshall from Cape Town and I’ve been interested in photography for many years and although I’m only a happy snapper I still try to get the best out of my old faithful Sony DSC W1 compact camera.
Thanks so much for the fantastic range of CiC tutorials, I’ve already found the tutorial on autofocus particularly helpful

Hello there, Ian. The thanks for the tutorials is all due to the site owner Sean (McQ). That's what got many folk onto the forum in the first place, me included. They are excellent.
I hope that you find being part of the forum to be a helpful. Certainly there are lot of people willing to share their very extensive knowledge and experience. All you have to do is ask the questions.
So, welcome. I look froward to seeing some of your images.

Welcome Olli. Good to have you on board and I hope CiC proves to be both useful and fun and worth staying with.
You'll find things are pretty informal about here, but serious in terms of a genuine wish to share knowledge to help others grow and develop in photography. So, please do join in.

Hello Everyone! My name is Mark and I live in North Mississippi, near Memphis, Tennessee. I have had an on and off relationship with photography and right now it is one of my greatest passions. I am using a Nikon D3100 DSLR that I got last summer. I have been doing a lot of pictures of my granddaughter, who loves to have her picture taken. I will post some very soon and I look forward to hear your opinion of how they look. Thanks and have a Happy Easter!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello folks - glad to be part of this community. I recently acquired my first DSLR (Nikon D5100) and am having fun experimenting. I have been playing with cameras starting with my Dad's Carl Ziess film camera 30 years ago and recently gave up my Coolpix 5700. I believe I am ready to take this to the next level. I bumped into this site just a few weeks ago and love it - one of the most easy to read sites I have seen and so informative and practical. I live in the Washington D.C. area and got some great pictures of the Cherry Blossoms a couple of weeks ago - the first time I woke up before dawn to shoot. I thought I would be one of the few there but was surrounded by a sea of Tripods...!!!!

If you have any questions about the site or how the forum works, please do just ask.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Yep, we're a dedicated lot! Personally, I love getting up and out very early. I was up at 4:30 am a couple of weeks back and out in the hills by 6am. Best time of the day!

I hope you will find that this forum meets your needs in terms of an online learning community and that you will take part in the discussions, ask questions and, of course, post some of your pictures.
Am I correct in guessing that you are in Guwahati, North-East India? Also, what is a MNC?

A very warm welcome to CiC. Thank for choosing to sign-up to the forum.
You obviously have knowledge and experience in photography and I hope that as well as learning further from others, you will share
your knowledge for the benefit of those less experienced than you. That is very much the culture and ethos of this online learning community.
I look forward too seeing examples of your work on the forum.
