Hello,

Been a while, since actively taking pictures. It is so totally different - than the days of Kodak B/W film. And can't remember, "how many times" sent off pictures & getting back - these are all black prints or slides.

So, time to go digital, and enjoy the new freedom. Mostly into Landscape pictures. Want to be more involved with people and action / events. However, people give such dirty looks. (*) I really don't understand it. Whenever you fill with gas, go to W-mart, and so on. You are being filmed, watched, recorded constantly.

Any advice - on Codes of Ethics, Rules to follow, "when I should know" I'm in trouble. = Even at a nature park, with "zero people around" someone comes speeding at me, with a car, towards a dead end road - like I offended them? from 200 feet - off the Highway? Very strange.

= I do feel like, "when someone annoys" ME, more than so much? I am pulling out the point and shoot, and hitting the Video button.

My name is Wrick and I am from Calgary, AB. Canada. I am basically from Asia but currently posted in Canada as part of my assignment. I am on-off with Photography for the last 6 years. I am passionate about it and try to keep on learning new things/concepts. I am having a Nikon DSLR with 50mm,70-300mm, 18-55mm and 10-24mm Nikkor lens. So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. It can be confusing joining a new forum. The following information may help you in getting established here. We know you want to get started, but reading this will help you get started properly.

POSTING IMAGES - For technical advice on posting photos, please read this excellent guide How can I post images here? It tells you all you need to know.

VIEWING IMAGES - If you are looking for help on viewing images on this site then try here.

YOUR WEBSITE - If you have your own photo website or Flickr page you may put a link to it in your forum signature (see mine below for example). You can also introduce other members to your site in This thread.

LOCATION - Put yourself on our members map on Google. But please check the security aspects when you do this CiC Google map

CONDUCT - The general emphasis here is on support and learning. To do that, we often give detailed criticism on shots, where people have asked for it. We always try to do that in a fair, polite, and balanced manner. We also have a lot of fun on here, making humorous comments with one another. But again, it's nearly always done in a friendly manner, softened with the use of smilies.

If you follow the above guidelines you won't go far wrong. We rarely have a problem with things that are said on-line. However, the Admin/Mod group monitor all activity on this site, and any inappropriate comment will be removed or edited. We urge all new members to read the Code of Conduct FAQ.

The very first thing is, you don't say where you are. If you wish, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your location so that it shows up alongside all your posts, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Please be assured - you will never get advice on here that includes "sell your camera". I understand that this sort of message does appear on some other forums. This forum is about helping people to learn and develop their photographic knowledge and skills. Everyone on here remembers that they, too, once had to start from the beginning and learn it all, just as you are now doing.

So, please do not be concerned about asking a question in case people think you should already know the answer. And please do post up your pictures for comment. Good Morning; My name is Steve, I am a retired Aircraft Technician and hopeful photographer from Washington State. I have been photographing for 44 years since my introduction to my first 35mm camera, a Petri, in 1969.

I have done some darkroom work and still have interests there, I have done some Medium Format with my Bronica ETRsi and now am learning the details of my Nikon D300. I am hoping to sharpen my skills and to develop new, my work has been called eclectic, and I would have to agree, I find interest and beauty in so many things.

I am presently begining to learn studio lighting and off camera flash, I enjoy portraiture and am looking forward to developing my skills.
