Hi, my name is Jim. From Iowa, USA. I am basically a beginner but have been learning photography for many years. I used to take film photos and even had a darkroom where I developed slides for a while. After a few years of having no camera, I got into digital photography and now have a Nikon D7000 and love it. My memory isn't the greatest so every day, I learn new stuff. Or else I'm not the brightest bulb in the box. Anyway, I like continuing to learn photography. I also play around with woodworking, camping, and gardening. Many of my subjects grow in the garden. I enjoy reading these forums and learn a Loy here.

Jim - It's great to have you here. Thanks for joining.
There are quite a few of us who were once into film, got lost to photography for a few years and then re-discovered it and realised it had all changed and the language had changed to cope with the thing called a sensor. However, the basic skills of composing and exposing correctly are still there no matter the medium being used for recording the information.
There are lots of folk on here who are very willing to share knowledge and skills. As well as learning, I hope you will also contribute your thoughts to help others along that learning curve.

Hi,
I’m Darshana and I’m from Sri Lanka, working as a software engineer. But I'm a very enthusiastic person for photography and I’m keen to do nature photography.
On end of 2008 I bought a Fujifilm FinePix S5800 camera and I was just keep on shooting from it whenever I go somewhere, and finally I got attached to it.
So now I’m very interested about photography and want to know learn and go for a better camera so I went through this web site and had lots of useful information and wanted to get some ideas and to share knowledge with others so that is why I joined this forum.
Thank you,
Darshana

Darshana - A very warm welcome to CiC. Sri Lanka is a most beautiful place. The last time I had the honour to visit was in in 2002, which is far too long an absence. In which part of the island do you live?
I'm very glad that you have found CiC and decided to join. This is site created to try and help people learn and develop their knowledge and skills. I hope it serves that purpose for you and i look forward to seeing your participation in the forum.

Hello and welcome to a fellow Scot.
Please do post up any and all photography related questions, particularly in relation to the various shooting modes. Once you do go into Av, Tv and Manual modes, you will greatly enjoy the fact that you are taking charge of what you capture.

Hello everyone,
Im Frank Pruzenski, native to Rochester, NY. I enjoy photography and nature. After my father passed last year who was a professional photographer, I decide to follow in his footsteps. I grew up in quite the photography atmosphere but photography really didn't call me until my fathers passing (funny how that works). Now his passion lives on through me. I love shooting pictures of nature, city and am now playing with panoramic views. Thanks for such a devoted site.
Frank

Al - There are lot of us here who picked up photography again after many years and found ourselves in the digital age. The good thing about that is there are lots of people who understand what climbing along the digital learning curve is all about and who are very happy to help others.
I hope you enjoy being involved in CiC.
