Hello Clint. Great to have you here.
By the way, iIf you wish, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your location so that it shows up alongside all your posts, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
I hope that all that experience in film will be used to help others on here who are seeking to learn some of the basics such as composition, exposure etc and, in turn, that others will be able to help you with any questions you have about shooting digital.
Hi everyone I'm Judy from Ontario Canada. I bought a nikon coolpix p510 about 6weeks ago. I look forward to getting comments on some pics!
Judy - Thank you for joining the forum. I hope you enjoy it and that it does help you learn and develop your photographic knowledge and skills.
One of the nice things about the forum is that you can ask any question without fear that someone is going to tell you that you should already know the answer. I hope and think that what you'll find instead are people very willing to offer help and advice to help you to learn.
Hello everyone. My name is Bill and I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I have always enjoyed photography but have until now contented myself with using Auto. Now I want to learn photography from the bottom up and will appreciate any tips I can get. I look forward to reading and contributing to the threads as well as studying and learning from the tutorials. I moved here recently from Woodstock, New York.
Bill - You've already taken the first steps in realising and appreciating some of the things you want to change and improve. the person who can't do that is the one who finds it difficult to learn.
Welcome on board. Great to have you here. I hope you enjoy it.
Please do ask questions and, of course, post up some of your images.

Hi! My name is Stacy. I love taking pictures and just invested in my first DSLR. I'm very excited about my new camera and spend every spare second either experimenting or reading posts on this site. I look forward to being part of the Cambridge community I've already learned so much from all of you.
Hello Yesid. Welcome to membership of CiC.
I hope that by being part of the forum you will be able to develop your photographic knowledge and skill. I think you will find that many other members are very willing to answer questions and to share their experience in order to help you learn.
Welcome Stacy. Great to have you here.
What camera have you got and what lens(es)? Congratulations on entering the DSLR world. It can be a steep learning curve but I hope you find it fun and exciting. Just remember, whenever you feel frustrated that you're not learning as fast as you want to, everyone else on this forum was once at the place you are now in terms of knowledge and skills.
Just keep asking any questions that you have and I hope you will find lots of people very willing to try and help.
Thank you for welcoming me Funny you should ask about the camera. I went to the store thinking Nikon and walked out with the Sony A65. The Sony was just more comfortable. It came with an 18-55mm lens and I purchased a 55-200mm lens. I'm still overwhelmed with all of the functions on the camera, but I love it!!
Photography fascinates me. I am constantly on the look-out for new subjects, new techniques, and new challenges.
My website is www.rakmilphotography.com
I try to put something new up every Monday.
Hello Victor and welcome to CiC. Thanks for the link to your site.
I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and that your knowledge and experience will be shared with others in order to help them learn, in the same way as I hope you will be able to develop as a result of the exchanges on here.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.
Hello All,
I am Amit Chawla, from New Delhi, India. I have been practicing and teaching this art for about a decade now. Was pretty impressed with the content of this website and the threads posted. I also have an institution called 'Photoshala' in Delhi.
Hello Amit and a very warm welcome to CiC.
I'm very glad that you like what you've seen and read on this website and i hope that being part of the forum will be both enjoyable and informative. There are a great many people on here who, I think you will find, enjoy sharing ideas and knowledge.
Hi yall, My name is Brian. I'm from Texas, U.S.A. I am joining today with the hopes of learning a great deal from everyone here and to just enjoy the crowd. I started taking my first shots back in 2006 with a Canon rebel film camera. Just recently(2 months ago) decided to move up to digital. I have along way to go, but I feel like I'm going to be ok. It does help to know the basics of photography itself and then using that with the different cameras. I'm glad to know something about photography and then figure out the camera rather than trying to figure out the camera not knowing anything about photography. It really makes a difference.
I would have to say I love just about any type of photography...except people! Macro, landscape and outdoor in general. I love bugs, flowers and landscapes. Sunsets have really got me. Well anyway, just glad to be here.
HI guys
I am pruthvi from India, I have just started learning photography and going to get my first DSLR very soon.
I have narrowed down my choices to Sony SLT A37, Canon EoS 550D and Nikon D5100 after considering my budget .. but i am not able to zero down to one ..... I hope advanced photographers can help me out in choosing one.
That's the most sensible statement about photography that I've read in a long time.
You're the photographer. The camera is only a box that captures the light for you. The camera knows nothing about photography.
Great to have you here, Brian. I do hope you enjoy being part of CiC and that you do learn as a result of participating in the forum. It's the sort of site where there is no such thing as a dumb question. People on here are very willing to share knowledge and experience in order to help colleagues learn and develop.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'.
