Bob - I certainly hope that being part of CiC helps you towards that goal and that you will enjoy taking part in the discussions on here.

I hope what you'll find is a group of fellow enthusiasts who are willing to offer advice, guidance and advice in a constructive and helpful manner. What I don't think you'll find are the sort of people who are precious about their knowledge and not willing to share it, or who believe it is beneath them to try and help a new colleague learn and develop.

Hi, I'm Linda and I consider myself a enthusiastic learner of photography. I live in a beautiful part of the UK with both the North East coast and the North Yorkshire Moors on my door step. My interests centre on landscape photography. I retired recently and bought myself my first DSLR camera and decided I wanted to learn the art of photography properly. I joined local photography classes and intend to join a local camera club. I found this site by chance and was very impressed, especially with the quality of the tutorials. I've subsequently told lots of my photography friends and family members about this great site.

Well, in that case you are very, very welcome, Linda.

As you'll have already seen, CiC is very much about learning and that's what we hope runs through the exchanges that take place hear on the forum. So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

I am Sandipan from India, settled in Bangalore; joined in this forum just yesterday; I am a doctor by profession, trained in Australia. photography was my hobby; I own ALMOST ALL Pentax DSLR gears; I wanted to learn actual photography with the intention to be a pro photographer; I get limited time to do this but I try hard. I found this website, when I was trying to learn "understanding metering" .... I was impressed about the tutorial and I found that somebody might have read my mind and has put up those tutorials and my quires in my mind, exactly what I wanted to know ! .... there are many photography websites.... but this is just awesome and I hope other members will enjoy my presence in this community. Thanks to the admin. and mod. to create such fantastic and very useful site at free of cost !

Hello CIC,

I stumbled upon this site on accident and have thoroughly enjoyed it thus far! My name is Troy Volanti and I live in Cherry Valley IL. which is approximately 75 miles west of Chicago. My wife and I have a 7 month old adorable baby boy! Loads of fun! I've recently discovered how fun photography is, and I want to gain experience and knowledge of the art. Hi. My name is Karm Redland and I live in NE Ohio close to Cuyahoga Valley. I currently use a point-and-shoot Leica:D-Lux 5. Looking for feedback both on my photography skills and the way I process my pictures. Currently I mostly use Lightroom and various NIK products.

Hey Everyone....

I am Tanmay...I live in US and its been only 2 months since I bought my first DSLR and only 3 months since I started taking an active interest in photography...Without wasting time, I did a bit of research and went ahead and purchased a Nikon D5100.

In these couple of months..I have clicked more than 1000 photographs..and sometimes have been appreciated by my friends..Now I am getting more serious in this wonderful activity trying to make it my hobby..

I am more inclined towards Portrait and Landscapes photography especially in low light scenarios...I am still trying to figure out the full potential of my camera and this is the reason which got me here...I saw some stunning and beautiful pictures in this forum...and hope one day I will be able to shoot something like that...

I just joined and am looking for general instruction to grow as a photographer. This has been a hobbie now for about 1 year. I do not have a dslr but I have a Canon G12 and a Canon SX 40. I like landscape and wildlife photography. I'm looking forward to learning. Tony

This is a great site to learn and it contains some great tutorials, well worth a look.

Start posting your picturs as soon as you feel comfortable to do so, it's great to get feedback from the members and use that feedback as part of your learning Journey .

Hi to everyone here on CiC :)
My real name is Frank and I'm in Frome, Somerset, UK. Directed to CiC for a couple of the tutorials - 1st visit for the Filters one - and found out about your forum from a member of another photography forum I'm a member on.

Camera kit consits of SONY gear; namely a700 and the a77... a number of differing bits of glass. Shoot various themes or things that take my attention so not sure where I'd place myself - if I had to?

Will try to get round to posting some work after I've found my way around :)

Hello Everyone, My name is Bruce and I live in New England. Back in high-school, I shot and developed B&W 35mm film. I still have several of those cameras and lenses. Then I started digital with an Olympus C-3000 Zoom and had fun with it for thousands of pictures. I still use it as one of my bridge cameras. I've been using an Olympus E-420 DSLR for about 4 years now and learning something new all the time. I still haven't grown tired of this camera yet. Always willing to learn.
