Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Disclaimer: I'm supposed to be on an ice flow, but ..
Photography? One years experience 75 times. Started in 1937 with proceeds from my morning and afternoon paper route. A wet darkroom (develop, print and enlarge) made of cardboard in our unused garage (depression, remember). First camera a Kodak Folding f/6.3 1/100, new that year. Sits above my desk today. All sorts since then. Some pretty good, some junk. Canon for last bunch.
Lots of pics over the years .. high school, Texas A&M, WW II as Marine pilot, U of Texas (Arch. Eng.), family, back in Marines for Korean and career in construction. With retirement and digital, moved back into editing and eventually Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Keeps me out of trouble.
Been on a continuous learning curve since birth .. can only hope for a little more each day, courtesy of all you who provide it. .. thank you!!!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Everyone. My name is Chris and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I stumbled across this website and the tutorials looked interesting so I had a general look around and decided to join the Forum. I have not been taking many photos of late but have been a very keen photographer for the last eight years. I am looking forward to taking long service leave in October and doing a six week travel adventure with a friend through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. I certainly aim to have many, many new photos very soon.
I use Canon equipment which includes 2 x 30D's, 1 x 5D MkII, 1 x twin lens kit 550D, an EF 70 - 200 f2.8 L IS USM (my baby), an EF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM, an EF 17-35MM f2.8 L USM, an EF 50mm F1.8, an EF 100mm f2.8 macro and an EF 85mm F1.8 and have a variety of tripods, flashes, miscellaneous odds and sods -- all accumulated over the last 8 years.
I would like to retire in a few years and take portraits for folk in my local area to maintain my interest and make a little money. I also have a very new and not properly functioning framing business which will compliment my photography. I hope to put some time into making this function better on my LSL... after I've done lots of travelling and taken lots and lots of new photos.

Hi Ramesh,
We often advise new members to avoid shooting a wedding, but I guess you'd better not follow that advice or you'll soon be hungry :D

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello from Georgia (US)! I joined in June when I came across CiC while searching for information but am only now getting to my introduction. I have always been interested in photography but got my first DSLR (Canon Rebel XT) a few years ago. Since then, I have been focused on wildlife and nature photography. A few months ago, I finally came off of auto and have been taking every opportunity to learn and shoot. It is great but there is so much to learn- I am glad I came across this site!

Hey all, my name is Karma and my wife and I have been into photography and photo editing now for around 15 years or so. We are originally from Florida but now live outside the states in Belize. I got a Nikon D700 and my wife has the D300s. Along with a huge assortment of pro lenses. We have also started a photo editing website at http://photoshopmeartistically.com. It is a crowdsourced website where people can upload photos they need worked on and designers from around the world compete for the job. Its cool.

My website is for the moment only in Dutch, I am working on an English version >> www.digico.nl

Howdy. aAron from the Texas Gulf Coast, where the air is thick and wet, the mosquitos are as big as mockingbirds and the opportunities for beautiful photos are endless.
I shoot Nikon, not from any tribal loyalty, but out of familiarity. I like Nikon, I respect Canon, and have seen some beautiful photos from iPhones. Like a fiend of mine says, and I'm sure he stole it from someone else; "The best camera is the one you have at any given moment."

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
It's great to see such a rush of people posting up introductory messages in the last few hours.
So, welcome to:
Jennifer
Anne
Karma
Cor
Aaron
Diane
It's great to have you all here and a very warm welcome.
I hope you enjoy being part of CiC and that it contributes to your ongoing learning and development in photography.
For those of you who haven't put in your proper name or location into your profile, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Joost - A very warm welcome to you. Thank you for signing up to CiC.
CiC is very much a learning resource, so whether you consider your self at the start of the learning curve or part of the way along it, I hope you find the site a useful place in which to continue your learning and development
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Everyone,
John from N.Ireland.
Just came across this forum and thought I would start by introducing myself. I have always had an intrest in photography and am currently undertaking a diploma in professional photography. Along with the diploma and joining a camera club I have gone from casual snapper to starting to take my hobby much more seriously. I have now done a small number of weddings, some family portraits, graduations etc but my real passion is landscapes. I still have loads to learn and look forward to being an active member of the forums hopefully learning and contributing where possible,
John.
