Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Cambridge in Colour family.
I have been perusing this forum since I got my T2i as a birthday present in April. I am new to photography but so far I'm enjoying it immensely. I have learned a lot from this forum and know I will continue to do so as I read the posts daily. Thanks for making my introduction into photography so enjoyable and thought provoking.
I'm hoping to post a picture soon to see if I'm learning to do this photography thing right and to get your constructive criticism. I want to learn to take photos like the ones I've seen on this website, and I know this is the right place to learn.
Thanks again.
Serge

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone,
My name is George and I live in northern New Jersey about 10 miles from New York City. I used a mid range Minolta film camera for a long time. When digital cameras appeared I got away from being creative and used point and shoots for their convenience mostly for snapshots. When I heard about the Sony RX100 I thought it was ideal for me since I can put it in my pocket and also take advantage of features it has to be creative. I came across this site while I searching for reviews and thought it was amazing for the information shared, the quality of the images and the range of level of experience it supports. Basically, I like to take pictures that are simple but interesting. I would like to learn more about manipulating digital images. Attached is a photo that was taken in auto mode partial color blue. The only thing I did to it was crop it. First upload - hope it works.
Garden State Parkway on a really good day.

A very warm welcome to CiC. I'm glad that you like what you've seen on the site and have decided to join up.
As you've noted, the forum is very much for people who are happy to share knowledge and skills in order to help others with their learning and development. So, hopefully, what you find is that, for example, there will always be constructive criticism and comment on offer and people willing to discuss issues, offer solutions to problems and answer questions.
I hope you enjoy it.

Hi,
My name is Khalid, i am from Sudan working as a civil engineer in Saudi Arabia,i am new-by here and really attracted by what i found in your website it`s just what i need and was looking for.
Actually i started photography long time ago since the cameras were not digital, but in year 2002 i start using the digital compact cameras, but honestly i never thought that it`s more than just point and shoot thinking that it`s all about choosing the right angle regarding the light source and selecting the composition with the subject included in the frame and the rest of it is all done by my good camera. Off-course i was wrong!!! But that time i was happy by the results that i am getting from it.
A year ago i purchased my new DSLR canon EOS 600D to satisfy my passion for photography, then i start reading more about photography, but really i was shocked and a little depressed that i lost time not improving my knowledge and skills in photography and i hope it`s not too late now.
Thank you i appreciate your assistant.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone! A few problems of mine have already been solved after some posts here. (So i do not know if i still qualify as new :) ...)but with my few posts, i think i do.
Especially this https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/fo...htm#post239633 still need your opinions on this.
My name is Ife, computer science student, formula 1 fan and amateur chess player. Photography is a passion and apart from that, i need to make some income from it to support myself while in school so getting good at it is of huge importance all around.
My gear(please do not laugh): Canon 1000d, 18-55mm kit lens, 70-300mm Sigma lens and a Nissin flash. It is not greatest of gadgets but i intend to make the best use of it.
The articles here have been excellent and the response time to posts is mind-blowing.
So ladies and gentlemen, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
I am ready!

Hello Ife and welcome to the forum. Never to late to introduce yourself.
I'm very glad that you are finding CiC to be helpful in terms of your learning and development. I hope it continues to be so.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

Karen - I hope that being part of CiC builds on what you get out of your course and that, after the course is finished, CiC can continue to be part of your resources for learning and developing.
I hope you've already seen that there are many very experienced photographers on here who are very willing to share their knowledge. There is no such thing as a dumb question here on CiC. So please do join in and, remember, everyone on here was once where you are at in terms of learning.

Hi
my name is Paul, I live in Romford now but originally from Birmingham. I had a SLR as a kid and been playing around with digital compacts ever since they come out. I have finally taken the plunge and bought myself a DSLR a Nikon D5100 with the entry level lenses the 18-55mm and 55-200mm. I'm not a complete novice but do consider myself a beginner I am thinking about may be doing a open University course or something but that's for the future this website has already been a great help with the tutorials and also reading through the forum. So I thought I would join up and be part of it.
Thank you for the help you have already been and thank you for any future help I hope to learn enough so in the future I'll be able to help other people.

Hello Graham and a very warm welcome.
How to start a thread - Go to 'Forums' on the menu bar above. Select the section into which you wish to post your message and then click on '+ Post New Thread' that's up near the top left of the screen.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi. I am satish...a new member. I am from ireland but now writing this from india. I have been taking photos for quite some time but in auto mode most of the time. Recently it occurred to me to become creative and so started reading about manual mode through various websites. I am trying by reading & practising. I will try to post my photos for your opinion, as i am just a beginner to manual mode. However, i have come across some issues; one of them is as follows. When we talk about aperture & set one for a photo, there is another aperture for the lens as well...like 3.5 to 4.5 for a lens of 70 to 200. Considering this if i have to use f/2.8 with the same lens how does it work or which aperture comes into the picture. I would appreciate your reply, please.
