Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everyone,
My name is Jordan and I’m from Bulgaria.
I’ve been using DSLRs for the last three years, still having hard time to achieve the quality demonstrated by other amateurs.
I suspect that the problem is not with the gear I’m using, but with my technique and post processing skills, so I hope I could learn a lot from this site.

Hi Jordan,
Welcome to CiC.
I agree it does take time to master these skills, but keep working at it, it is well worth it in the long run.:)
I'm sure you will learn a lot from this site and it's members.
Regards
John

Hi, just joined this morning. I live in Portland, Oregon USA I am retired and have had my Nikon D5000 for several years, but being retired is hard work sometimes and I am just now getting time to really focus on learning photography. I would describe myself as brand new out of the box beginner. The tutorials are very good and have been helpful. I appreciate having so many instructive topics in one place. I look forward to learning to be comfortable with my camera and my pictures.

Hi Connie,
welcome to CiC. :)
Many of my friends have retired and tell me the same story. They seem to have less free time now than they did when still working.
This is a great site and I'm sure you will learn a lot from the tutorials as well as the members.
I look forward to seeing your pictures and talking to you further in the coming weeks.

Hi,
Hope I'm doing this right. My name is Rita, I'm new here to this site, and new to using a camera. I just received as a gift a FUJI S4200 and I love it. I've been taking some pictures, some I've posted here and I find it to be a great new hobby. Any help in learning how to take better pictures or how to operate my camera would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rita,
Welcome to CiC from me, it's great to have you join us. :)
Fuji cameras produce very nice pictures and I would strongly advise slowly working your way off of automatic mode and trying some of the more manual settings.
Any question you have about your camera or any other photography question just post and we will try to answer them for you.
Regards
John
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello, CIC peeps!
My name is Miguel and I live in Katy, Texas. I was born in Mexico and came to the U.S. during my middle school years.
I took several Photography courses in high school and learned about working with film and developing it. I also learned developing black & white photos with chemicals, the machines, tongues, clothespins, etc.
I continued to take photos in a minimal scale, at events, family parties, etc., with film and then finally jumped to digital in the early 2000's, with a FujiFilm S5100, which offered manual settings. The images were so good, I began taking photos at large events and so I was hired as an in-house photographer at a reception hall. Since then, I have purchased all Canon equipment beginning with the Xsi and then a T1i, and now I own a 7D. I hope to be moving up to the 1 or Mark series soon, by learning with you guys and others on better techniques, and teaching others.
I continue to do photography on a small scale by doing Quinceañeras (Latin American version of the Sweet Sixteen, when the girl turns 15, a huge celebration), weddings, birthday parties, and more events. I work with my brother, who is also an experienced Canon user, who also teaches me his techniques. Together we cover events with either only photography, video (I shoot with a Canon XF105 and our DSLRs), or both.
If you need to know about the Quinceañeras, anything in Spanish, or anything else about me, just ask. :)
I found this forum by searching for a nice place to explain to a friend the difference in focal length and f-stop. I must say, it's a very stylish site and its tutorials are awesome. I'll point more people to this. Thank you for such a great place to share, learn, and teach!
Miguel

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi All,
I was pointed to this forum by a good friend from another forum <Eileen's Lounge>. My goal to become more knowledgable about camera use and equipment. I've had point and shoot cameras so I really know very little about the manual settings that are available on the higher end cameras. Reading instructions is not my favorite activity but I'm down to doing it now if I wish to learn. So here I am, starting my quest.
I'm also currently interested in information about the Rebel cameras - specifically the T3i model - so I'll be searching your forum for any opinions/problems about it.
Thank you for providing a "nice place".

Hi everyone. My name is Matt Freestone and I'm from West Jordan, Utah. I'm a father a 3. I work for Adobe as a product manager. I love photography because it help me relax and gives me a creative outlet. I feels like no matter how much I learn about it, I always have much more to learn.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone, my name is Mark and I live in a town called Widnes just outside of Liverpool. I'm a complete beginner in photography, just enrolled on a beginner's course at the local college and bought my first SLR. Being a total novice I opted for a Canon EOS 1100D which should do me nicely while I am learning the basics. I stumbled on this site while trying to understand what my college tutor had tried to teach us about exposure, I have to say I find the tutorials extremely helpful and by jove I think I've got it! All I need now is to actually try it in practice, I am guilty of having been one of those people who used to think that photography was just pointing and shooting a camera and that anyone can do it.... I take it all back and I'm sorry! ;)
Will be posting some images as soon as I've taken some I like, nothing's worked out for me yet but I was doing it all wrong to begin with. Hoping to use the forums for tips, advice and any criticism that might help me to develop my skills in this new found passion of mine.

Hi Matt,
Welcome to CiC.
I think your comment "It feels like no matter how much I learn about it, I always have much more to learn." is the way most of us feel; but it adds to the sense of achievement, do you not agree? :)
Anyhow, it's great to have you with us and I look forward to seeing your pictures.
