Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Mark,
As always let me start by saying "Welcome to CiC".
One of the things I like about this site, is that people totally new to photography ‘stumble’ as you put it on to this site and feel comfortable enough to join. This site does have great tutorials and its members are both friendly and knowledgeable; but what’s even better is their willingness to share their skills and knowledge with others. Our MOD’s /Administrators are always around to give guidance and support if needed and generally keep this site running smoothly.
My advice to you as total beginner is join in straight away, ask questions; there is no such thing as a “silly” question here at CiC, we are all at different levels in our learning curve, so supporting each other is certainly the ethos of this site.
I look forward to seeing your pictures and watching you progress over time.
It’s great to have you with us.
Kind regards

My name is Bertil and is calling from Hoor in Sweden. I am really new to this forum and maybee I don't have the time to visit the forum now and then. But learning is the word and I'am happy to join in there. As I'm working as a pro I use mostly canon cameras 5D:s mII-III, 1D:s mIII-IV and L-lenses and Hasselblad medium format older model with digital back. Mostly advertising jobs but some weddings and portraits now and then. I have a relativly lage studio with mostly ehlincrome RX type flashlights and 4 Quadra for mobile use. Scanlight Halogen for some products and soft portraits. I'm looking forward to learn more.

Hi Bertil,
Welcome to CiC, it's great to have someone with your experience join us.
I hope, with your busy schedule you can find time to post some of your pictures and give advice to the less experienced.
I look forward to seeing your work and talking to you further.

Hello Orca and welcome to CiC, from another 40D user.

Hello,
I am Kristen Ridge, 3 years and counting teaching myself how to take pictures. I live in central Utah with my husband and four children. I've been looking for a place to learn more, and I found this site. It looks so much more helpful than my instruction manual, which I've read a few too many times looking for answers.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi,
I'm Bob Gall. I have been into photography since the film days. Shot with an old press camera using sheet film for my high school paper. Did a lot of B&W photography and processing in the 60s and 70s. Then moved on to color slides.
In the past 10 years I moved in to digital. Most recently my wife and I started a food blog http://www.sauceandsensibility.com. I do the photography. Visit our site and you can see my stuff. I'm proud of most of it. But because we actually eat what I photograph sometimes my time to get the shot is limited.
Recently I've gotten interested in HDR which I want to explore some more. Hope to learn from the forum, which seems very robust and helpful.

Hi Kristen,
Welcome to CiC, it's great to have you with us.:)
This is a fantastic site to learn and certainly better than an instruction manual:D. The tutorials and members will; I'm sure move your photography to the next level.
Enjoy the site.

Hi Bob,
Welcome to CiC from me.
It looks like you have a lot of experience and will be able to help others on the site, as well as learning yourself.
I look forward to seeing your work and talking to you further in the coming weeks.

Hi, my name is Chontrell. I live in London, UK. I am a novice in photography. I have a Nikon N60 conventional film camera, which I use from time to time. I have managed to get some good photographs as an amateur. Nevertheless, I want to purchase a digital camera. Lately, I was planning to purchase a Nikon D7000, but a review video changed my mind; now I am not sure what to buy and I am really confused. I really would like this form to help me buy a good, reliable camera that would not exceed 1000 GBP. I will then start to follow some advice on this website. Thank you in advance.

Hi, my name is Denise and I live in Riverton, Utah. I am very much a beginning photographer and love to learn so I feel fortunate to have found this site. I just completed a small 5 class course but the instructor was not a fan of my camera (Panasonic DMC-GH2), so he was more concerned about me replacing it rather than helping me learn to take the best photos with my current equipment. My interest in photography is increasing with exposure to the beautiful images found on this and other sites. I want to improve the quality of my photos especially when taking pictures of my family but I love the idea of macro photography and could really see myself focusing on this area more.

Hi, I'm Shavik from Sri Lanka. I just began my photography life and I take pictures of anything when I have the camera with me. Still I don't have a specific area of interest. My goal is on taking artistic valued photos.

Hi Chontrell.
Welcome to CiC.
Whatever truned you off buying the D7000?
I think the best way the 'troops' here at CiC can help you in choosing the right camera for you, is if you can tell us what type of pictures you like taking (Or want to take in the future).
With your £1000 budget, would this need to include the 'Body and Lenes' or just the 'Camera body'?
Anyhow, I think it would be wise to post your question in the 'Digital Cameras & Equipment' part of the forum; or perhaps one of the MOD's might move your question into an area of the forum they think best, to get the answers you want.

Hi Denise,
A big welcome to CiC from me.:)
I always find it sad when a Photography Instructor is more worried about what camera you have than trying to help you get the best pictures you can from it. You will not get that problem here at CiC, your choice of camera is down to you, the members here will help you get the best shots possible and if your camera does have limitations to the type of pictures you are aim for, will point these out to you. In time you may want to upgrade your camera; maybe you won't, that is totally up to you.
I think the best thing to do is get posting your work into the forum, see what others think. The main thing is that you enjoy your photography and being a member of CiC.
Welcome to the 'gang' :D

Im really looking to buy the canon eos 500D, its the older model canon compared to the 110D but i just feel its got the edge in build and spec. happy to be convinced otherwise.

Hello,
My name is Bill and I'm from Central Ohio. I just recently got into photography, mostly because my two boys play football and my daughter runs track. I wanted to be able to capture some of the great moments from their childhood because they are growing up so fast. I have also gotten into some nature and macro photography. I originally had a Pentax 35mm so i upgraded to the Pentax K30 so that I could use the old lenses. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me often.

Bill - It's great to have you here on CiC. I hope you enjoy it and that it does help you be as good a photographer as you want to be.
The whole site (forum and tutorials) is all about helping people learn. Lots of people on here will be more than willing to share their knowledge and experience. All you have to do is ask.

Hi, I'm Annie from Applecross in the north-west Highlands of Scotland. I got my first DSLR about 6 weeks ago and am very much a noob with it but I do have some experience in using film from the old days. I really haven't done much photography at all for 20 years so have a lot of catching up to do. I'm mostly interested in landscape, macro and food photography, so I'll have loads of questions!

Wonderful. Another Highlander on board. Welcome Annie. Great to have you here.
I've just started posting up some of the stuff I made from a week in Ullapool last week. I belong to Lochaber.
I hope you enjoy being part of CiC and that you'll become an active participant for a long time to come.
