This is a great site for learning, well worth looking at the tutorials and posting some of your work so the members can give you some C&C.
Don't forget it's worth editing your profile and adding you name and a rough location, that way members can address you by name in any future posts.

Gary here. I'm from the central valley in CA, retired and living it. I'm totally in love with close up photography, natural outdoor lighting, mostly floral. I'm making the transition from closeup to Macro, so am going to try and teach an old dog some new tricks.

I'm Rick, from Toronto, Canada. My main interests are food photography and travel photography. I found this site when surfing around looking for lens advice (have just shifted to Nikon after a decade of Canon, and need to think about some new equipment to round out my kit). I am also interested in digital processing.

Hello my name is Jeanette and I live in cornwall, I love taking photos although do not know a lot which is why I have joined your communty. I am hoping to get some helpful comments so that I can improve my technique. I have added one photo that I think although ok it is perhaps lacking in something, any remarks would be welcome.

Jeanette - Great to have you here. And the fact that you don't feel you know a lot is the perfect reason for joining. As well as all the tutorials on the site, amongst the members in the forum there is a huge amount of knowledge and experience that people will be very glad to share with you. All you have to do is ask.

Hi, I am Gaaron, (I am female) despite my user name:)
I came across this site when I was googling help re 'compression' shown in exif. To which I found wonderful info & learned a lot.
I have a Canon DSLR 400D with zoom lens. Because I don't actually use it to its full potential, but like its quality, & wanted to 'update' to a camera which was easier to carry around. I've been trying out the Canon SX50 HS ....hence seeing 'compression' in the EXIF.
I look forward to 'conversing', or rather, asking questions!

G'day everyone, I'm Steve from Brisbane, Australia. My interest in photography has been rekindled since retiring as my wife and I enjoy travelling. i've recently upgraded to Nikon P510 bridge camera and am realising just how much there is to learn about it's capabilities. Still, that's half the fun!

Hello! I'm Ulla from Finland. My friend in UK pointed me to your way and this looks very interesting. I'm just a beginner in a field of photography and got my first "proper" camera a couple of months ago. Before that I used a compact camera and now I'd like to learn more about everything... I guess it is a long and windy road, but hopefully very enjoyable at the same time. I have a 6 months old son and I'll be shooting him a lot, but I also like nature and animals. Well, I'm not too fussy about subjects, just want to improve and get better pics. So any advise will be greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Hi, I'm 21Limited, for those of you who know Pentax glass, you'll know the 21 Limited is not the sharpest lens in your bag, but sometimes it takes a soft dreamy image that you can't let go of. I identify with it for some reason. I live near ALgonquin Park , Ontario, Canada, most of my images are related to this location. Although every now and then we get out for a bit.

Having read a few of the excellent tutorials on this site I thought it would be very helpful to me to join and take part in the forums. I find that studying the photographs of others and reading about their tips and experiences is always interesting and instructive but I also hope to make some positive contributions of my own. I like photographing nature and wildlife, landscapes, interesting buildings and anything that looks interesting!
