Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

    Hi all,
I began photog in chromes in the 80's with a Minolta X700 and lenses. Moved into an F3HP system and tried to break into freelance nature/wildlife photog. That did not pan out, and I was out by 1990.

I have, in the past year, rediscovered my creative side and brought out the 'ole F3 and what lenses were left. Realized the Kodachromes were gone and tried Provia. Very difficult to get processed locally, so took the dive into digital with a D7000- primarily on the fact that my AI/s lenses would be useable. They were, but seemed soft on this new hi-rez sensor. So traded in all but my 105/4 micro Nikkor and have something satisfactory now- still in MF with the Micro and a 300/2.8 EDIF w/ TC 14 and 301) and a relatively new Rokinon 8/3.5 diagonal fisheye.

So, here I am... bared for all of you to see! I look forward to enjoying the camaraderie here.

    Tyler

    Hello, I'm Leand.
Nice to meet you all and I'm glad that I found your site and your forum. I find it very helpful, so I decided to join.
I like taking pictures, in fact I like it a lot, as well as carp fishing but... time isn't on my side
Right now I'm in the process of learning photography and all that comes with it. For the moment I left behind the "snap shoots" and the compact cameras.
Well, that's all in a few words.
    See you on forums!

And you are very welcome Tyler.

By the way, you don't say where you are. So that you don't continue to get people asking you where you are and what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your name under 'Real Name' and your location (country, city etc). Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

I hope you enjoy being part of CiC.

Hi, My name is Jay. I live in South West of England on the edge of the Cotswolds which is a beautiful area to live. I fell into photography in 2009 when I used to mountain bike. I had some bad health and the photography continued as the biking disappeared. I have been really interested in HDR but lately I have fallen in love with natural images and black and white, To see some of my shots please find me on Flickr or 500px as Jayt74 and feel free to feedback. Anyway, learnt so much already looking around the site, it looks great and have recommended to some friends in our Facebook photography group.

    Jay - Welcome.

If you wish to be addressed as 'Jay' rather than Jamie, you might want to pop in to Edit Profile and change your 'Real Name' so that we see this alongside all your posts.

Great to have you here. Sorry to read about past ill-health and I hope that is something that's now behind you.

I hope you enjoy being involved in the forum and that you find that, along with the rest of the site, it remains a valuable learning resource.

Rocky - Welcome to the club. There are lots of people on here with the same affliction! So, you're in good company.

I think this is a good an online resource as there is for learning. That's what it's all about. So, whether it the tutorials or here on the forum, I think you will always find the opportunity to increase your knowledge and skills. This is a forum where people share, so don't be afraid to ask any questions. There is no such thing as a dumb question on CiC.

By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello Nick and welcome on board. Been into the 'Post your website' thread and gone into your site. Impressive.

I hope you'll enjoy being part of CiC and I hope that with your obvious knowledge and skill, you'll be part of sharing with other members so that they learn from you, as well, hopefully, of you having the opportunity to further your own skills

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hi everyone, My name is Paul and I have years of photographic experience including some pro work. I am based in Scotland and really enjoy my photography. However, I have a question which I have never considered before.
Why would dpi output of a camera influence my decision to buy a Canon 7d (72 dpi) over a nikon with 200

    Hello,
I am from New Zealand wishing to take up photography in my retirement after allowing my interest in to lapse for several years. My knowledge of digital photography is therefore not much better than nil! But very keen to learn. Meredith

    Hi Justine,

    No worries

My suggestion would be to simply create a new thread in the Digital Cameras and Equipment forum where I'm sure that lots of Nikon folks will jump in to help

    Paul

First of all - welcome. Thank you for joining CiC and I hope you enjoy it. It's very much a learning resource and a place for exchanging ideas, asking & answering questions and, generally, helping each other develop knowledge and skills.

As to your specific question - Can I suggest that you go into the Digital Cameras and Equipment section of the forum and start a new thread to as this question. More people than will see it here are likely to see it in that section and be able to offer up some thoughts.

And .............. So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. That is a very good place from which to start learning and even though I'm biased, I think CiC is a very good forum to be part of at the start of your learning journey. You'll find lots of people on here who are very willing to share knowledge and skills in order to help you learn.

So please do join in. There are no such thing as dumb or daft questions here on CiC. The only stupid question is that the one that you don't ask.

By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
