Glad that you like what you've seen on here so far. By the way, although there are some folks on here who make some money from their photography, there are no full-time pros. We're all just enthusiastic amateurs. But that doesn't mean that there isn't a huge pool of skill and knowledge on here that people are very willing to share in order to help colleagues develop their own learning.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

Greetings, I'm Paul from Tennessee. I've been in photography as a hobby for many years but without much spare time to get serious. I'm now retired so I have more time to expand my knowledge. I went from film to digital a few years ago and every day there's something new to learn. Looking forward to taking some of these tutorials. Using Sony A-700 DSLR with LR4 for post processing. Hope to find help with both at CIC.

    Hi guys!
I'm May Anne and I've been in love with photography since I first took pictures myself. I find it really amazing and fulfilling. Cambridge in Colour really heard my heart out. I really want to learn a lot about photography. Being able to capture emotions would be the best achievement a dreamer like me could give to myself. It is really an honor to be with such talent persons in this site.

I'm the original Debbie Harry....lol Thank you for the welcome. I'm hoping to learn more about photography, I've been using a Powershot SX10 for the past 4 years but looking at upgrading to a Canon 650D down the track. I'd like to learn more about night photography in particular

    Hi Everybody,

My name is Cristian, I live in Romania and currently working in Afghanistan.
A complete begginer when it comes to DSLR photography. Got an old 400D from a friend (18-55 kit lens) and trying to figure out if I like it or not (pretty confused at the moment)

For now I'll just go on reading, you guys seem very helpfull around here. When my questions become clear, I'll start hammering you :P

It is an honour to have you here, May Anne. Thank you for deciding to join CiC.

I think capturing emotion is the highest possible photographic achievement and what I strive to do as well. So maybe we can keep on learning together on here.

Please do, Cristian. That is what CiC is for - to help people learn and develop their photographic knowledge and skills. I hope that you enjoy doscovering what you can do with the 400D and that you will be part of this forum for a long time to come.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

    Good Afternoon All,

Just found this site/forum from a link on another forum and I must say the tutorials are very instructive.

I played with a Pentax film SLR in the early 80's, sold it and bought a Minolta SLR, then had a number of dubious flirtations with digital P+S before returning to the SLR world with a Pentax K-r. I admit it, I have a soft spot for Pentax and have just (less than a week ago) moved on to a K-30.

My biggest problem with photography is that I don't seem to have an artistic eye... although I will say it's a lot more cost effective to waste 50+ digital frames than it is to blow off two or three rolls of film!

    Regards

Martin - Hello. I'm very glad you found us. Welcome to CiC.

The forum aims to complement the tutorials as a learning resource and as well as sharing views and ideas, I hope that what you find is that many people on here are very willing to share knowledge and experience.

So, I hope you enjoy being involved and decide to stay around for a while.

Hi, my name is Chris, I live on the Central coast in Australia. I joined to learn more about photography . I was a very keen amateur photographer once but lost interest (Too long a wait to get the film developed) I've recently bought a Sony Cybershot & am amazed how much easier this new technology is. I was looking at some old slides recently and found some that were rather dark. I now know how to stop this from happening but have joined in the hope that someone will point me in the right direction to repair these treasures.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

    Hello all on CiC!

I'm a complete "noob" to photography though my wife and I have owned a Nikon D60 for a few years now we haven't got much past the "Auto" setting. We have joined our local club and everyone there is very friendly and helpful and we entered our first prints in a competition there last week, no prizes but no surpises! I am a computer professional but completely new to fiddling with hue and saturation levels!

I found CiC online and used a couple of the tutorials which I found very helpful, so thought I'd go one step further. I am looking forward to learning some more.

    Kind regards

    Rick

Chris - Great to have you here. Thanks for joining the forum.

You are one of many of us on here who are 'born again' 'togs, having once been committed adherents but who fell by the wayside due to all sorts of other things, only to re-find our true destiny as we worked our way through life.

So far as your specific question is concerned, you should post a question in a new thread in, say, Image Post-Processing and Printing' section of the forum. More people who can provide the answers are likely to see it there.

Rick - I hope that in a few weeks/months you'll feel you've found the right place to help you make the shift. CiC is very much about learning and about those with some experience helping others develop their knowledge and skills as far as they want to take them. The only rule is that there is no such thing as a dumb question on CiC.

And ............... hopefully your good lady might be persuaded to join in her own right.

New to DSLR but started with a Minolta SLR with a pretty good sized telephoto lens in the 60's and have used a point and shot for many years. Just inherited my Dad's Nikon D60 and looking to expand my experience, have gotten beyond the "Auto" setting but still use the "Program" setting quite a bit. I live on the Southern Coast of Maine (10 minute walk from beach and beautiful marshlands) and will be focusing my efforts on birds, nature and the Atlantic seacoast. The first thing I need to add to my kit is a zoom lens and have been checking out the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4 - 5.6 Di VC USD telephoto. Looking forward to learning more from your site. Just uploaded a photo taken at sunset on Sunday Nov 18th.
    Thanks

    Hi everyone,

I'm Mike, but everyone calls me Pagie. I live just south of the Gold Coast in Australia with my loving partner and our 2 children ( 2 cats ) which you'll inevitably see photos of at some point.

I have been interested in photography for many years but have only recently had the opportunity to purchase a DSLR.

I'm hoping to learn a lot from fellow members and I'm eager to take part in the the monthly assignments.

I love this website and find it to be a wealth of information.

    So let the journey begin...

    Pagie
