Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello to everyone, I'm George and although a professional photographer in Edinburgh for over 30 years, I feel that you can always learn new photographic techniques whither traditional methods or digital and could try to pass on some hints and tips too!
You can never know it all!
I look forward to conversing with other members and posting some of my photography soon.
All the best.
George
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello
I found this site whilst looking to check some information for an "Introduction to Digital" workshop I was running last week for 10 beginners. I was amazed at the quality of the articles on this site and will be returning every now and again to expand my knowledge. After a first career in IT, I took a 2 year college course in Photography and have since managed to find enough commissions to keep my head above water. Now winding down towards retirement and hope to have more time to indulge in "photography for me"! Please bear with me whilst I find my way around the forum.
Robin

Ray - I certainly hope so. A very warm welcome. Do you restrict yourself to a specific area or do you wander all over the canal system? I suspect your journeying offers some wonderful photo opportunities.
Great to have you here and I hope you enjoy it.

Now, so far as I know, we've never had any skydiving images here on CiC. So, Richard, here is the chance to break new ground!
Great to have you here. Thanks for joining.
I'm glad that you've liked what you've seen on CiC so far. This forum is very much part of the learning package offered by the site and I hope you'll enjoy being part of it.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi I first got interested in photography when I was a student. I then had a break while I focused on work. I started againt about 12 years ago and got my first DSLR about 4 years ago (Nikon D80) which I still have. I am mainly interested in landscapes/seacapes at the moment. I found this site when I was looking for tutorials on Darktable. I am in the middle of setting up by Linux m/c (Linux mint) to process and organise my pictures.
I am hoping that I will learn lot from the tutorials on the site and hope to post some images in the near future, to if I can get some useful feedback.
Robert.

I hope you will, Robert, but that you also find this forum a valuable source of knowledge, advice and support.
You are one of many on here, me included, who loved photography in our younger years, but who found no room/time for it as the joys of adult responsibilities kicked in, only for us to 're-discover' it again when time (and income) allowed.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello to everyone @ Cambridge in Colour, I'm Fred and I use a Nikon D700 with a 28-70mm f2.8 lens. I've also got one of the first D2x bodies and use a 17-55mm f2.8 DX lens with it. I'm not a pro wizard but more than a point and shoot person.
I'm happy to take portraits of family and friends in my little moble studio lit by 2 bowens lights. I have a question about DOF that I will post later.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everybody,
my name is Jörg Hövel (sorry, german spelling) and I'm from Germany. I took my first photo around 46 years ago with a (stupid) Kodac Instamatic 64. My major focus is travel and animal photography. A friend of mine sent me the link to your web side and I'm impressed. I hope to chat with nice people and share some expirience and pictures.
You can see some pictures at http://500px.com/joerghoevel or on my blog http://www.joerhoevel.com
By the way, I'm using several cameras and lenses, but the Sony A65 is my favorite right now
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello. My name is Ruby. I've been taking pictures for about 50 years, but still have a lot to learn. My main problem right now is the switch to digital. I can only afford the small point-and-shoot cameras. When I want to take a serious picture, I use my old film based Nikon or fully manual Canon (which I love). I do teach people to use their little point-and-shoots more effectively, eg: USE YOUR FLASH in bright sunlight; DON'T USE FLASH to shoot the kids Christmas play, switch to a higher ISO setting - simple stuff like that. Love photography, use photographs to supplement my writing.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone my name is Greg. I'm very new to photography and got started with the Sony Rx 100. I love it. And take it everywhere with me. I love walking and cycling and its lightness suits me well. I'm now interested in a Camera with a greater focal length to take wild life and scenery I see on the way, but don't fancy a lot of lenses. Any thought on the Fuji x-1S
