Hi John,
Thank you for the welcome message.
Hi John,
Thank you for the welcome message.
Aloha, I am Tom Tracy, from Hawaii but now living in Ocala, Florida. Back in 1947-48 operated a commercial photo studio and was considered brilliant, but then all the capable photographers had been sent off to war; however I have not taken a photo since, did not even own a camera until last month. New Canon T3i and all the man-toys i dreamed of, so now i have to learn the new language of digital. My post processing experience was with a sharp pencil and a razer blade. Scrape off the emulsion or fill in the the depression. Dodge and burn was done at the enlarger during print exposure. My digital camera is a computer that produces images, but is more complicated then my high-tech Win 7-64 PC. Area of interest is Macro Canon EF 100 2.8 and Nature Canon EFS 55-250 IS, so must also learn Lightroom 4, Photoshop CS6, Zerene, and still adding to the list. It's at least a 5 year PHD equivalence. I consider it a wonderful way to spend 16 hour days.
I am so incredibly grateful to all of your members who have contributed your knowledge and experience to this website. Without it I would not have had the courage to begin this journey. Aloha nui loa .
Hello Max (is that your given name as well as your user name). Welcome to CiC.
I hope that being a member of the forum does help you develop your digital skills
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Dennis - I very much hope that you will put your obvious knowledge and experience to use on here helping others as well as, hopefully, you continuing with your own learning. I do hope you find CiC to be that sort of forum - one where people share knowledge and experience and which has a different 'feel' than many other online fora.
Tom - Welcome on the journey. It is indeed a difefernt way of thinking about the process of making images, but the basics in terms of having to get good exposure and good composition remain the same. Great to have you here. I hope you enjoy the ride.
Hi I am new member rachel , I am a new photography student learning online is hard without help and i know no photographers. I cant seem to get the same number for all 3 rgb's in zone V with my greycard. Frustrating to put it mildly.Any ideas peoples? Please help
Hi I am Peter and have been playing around with photography for approx 8 years.
I am retired and have recently swapped all my Canon 5D gear for Panasonic Lumix G3. Misadventure in a spinal operation made the Canon too big to handle from a wheelchair.
I am now looking for alternative modes of photography as the landscape I have previously enjoyed is too difficult.
Looking forward to some great ideas
Best wishes
Peter

Hello Rachel and welcome to CiC.
I see that you already posted your question in a thread and then withdrew it. I'd suggest you go back to that section (General Photography and Discussion), but start a new thread. By asking the question there, more people are likely to see it and be able to offer some ideas.
What would be helpful would be if you were specific as possible as to what it is you are trying to do. That will help people understand the problem you are trying to deal with.
I hope this is the start of a long involvement with CiC and that you enjoy learning here.
Peter - It is a pleasure to have you on board and with that CV (gleaned from your website) I hope you will feel able to be one of those on here who freely give of their extensive knowledge, experience and skill in order to help others scramble along the learning curve - CiC is that sort of forum.
I do hope you enjoy being part of the forum and that you'll be around here for a long time to come.
Hello Anand. Thank you for choosing to join CiC.

Hello everyone,
I'm Anthony from Singapore. I've been into photography on and off since school days developing film and BW photos to working in the Kodak Color Lab for a year and a half. Then, having to earn serious bread money to feed a family stopped my expensive hobby, very different then from now were you couldn't see what you just shot and discard those you don't want.
Anyway things have gotten better and I can again pick up new "toys" to play with and I now use a Canon 5D Mk lll with several Canon L lenses. These don't make me any better at photography but I'm still learning.
I just love this website and the many tutorials that are on it and hope to improve this craft that we all enjoy. Thank you.
Hello everyone, i tria from indonesia, ths a great recomended to learn photograph. saya berharap dapat mengetahui keindahan canon.
