Hello Folks,
I'm Teja, currently living in the US and originally from India. I use a Canon T3i along with an 18-55mm, 50-250mm and a prime 50mm f1.8 lenses. I have been shooting images with Point-N-Shoot for quite some time and have used my Dad's old 80's Olympus film SLR. I recently got my own and gradually learning new things with every shoot. I am yet to figure out whats the kind of photography's for me. Currently, I enjoy landscape and capturing human emotions. CiC has helped me in toning my skills and continues to do so. I am very thankful to everyone here :)
Cheers!!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
G'day photogs
I'm James, from Sydney Australia. I'm increasingly interested in photography, self taught, dreadful in post, and keen to learn more about both shooting and the digital darkroom. I shoot with a Canon 1d mk iv and have a few lenses. I generally shoot sport, but have been fortunate to travel to Africa and loved "shooting" (got to be careful there) wildlife. I also went on a photo trip to Iceland in the northern summer.
In addition to my own stuff for fun, I also shoot for our local surf life saving club on beautiful Coogee beach in Sydney - the aim is for parents to buy photos and for the surf club to make a few dollars.
I am hugely grateful for the resources on CIC's website to help me learn more.
Cheers,
James

Hi Teja,
Welcome to CiC, it's good to have you on board. I hope you will find the forums helpful as you explore your photography style and goals. As you have already seen, there is an immense range of talented photographers here with very many different styles, and all ready to share their expertise.
I look forward to seeing some of your images: California certainly has a huge range of landscapes from sea to mountains - and a nice climate (this is from a rather frosty, but sunny, England).
You might like to edit your profile so that your "real name" shows as Teja - that way everyone will know who you are when you post.
All the best,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
G'day mate and welcome to CiC.
You have a fine camera there - so no excuses :). Seriously, though, the resources, the tutorials, are great - reckoned to be some of the best on the web. Even better, in my opinion, are the members who have a huge range of experience and expertise (and opinions!) that they are always ready to share - whether about shooting or digital darkroom (if you haven't already spotted it, PP (for Post Processing) tends to be the jargon used on the site).
Hope you'll be posting some photos of that fine Aussie summer, while we shiver up here!
All the best,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Thanks Dave
Appreciate the welcome. Hopefully I can add something as well as just learning. Happy to post a few photos of beautiful Sydney, summer or other times.
Herewith a shot from the harbour a few weeks ago.
Cheers
James

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello CiC forum,
My name is Rick, I retired 2 yrs ago and I'm done watching the paint dry. I played around with a 35mm SLR back in the 80's and after taking hundreds of pictures, showed little if any improvement on the quality between the first one and the last ones. I became discouraged and moved on to my next creative hobby, knifemaking & parked the SLR in the closet for another day & bought a compact automatic 35mm. It took better pics than anything I took with the SLR. About 6 yrs ago I dropped it overboard off a Mississippi river paddle boat. Out came the ol' film 35mm from mothball and took it to my Vancouver Island vacation. I took 4 rolls of pics and when I got them back from devoloping guess what? They still looked crappy, so it went back into mothball where it still is today. I bought a Nikon D90 a year ago and mostly shot auto or aperature priority which gave me good results but little wow factor. So now it's time for me to get serious and learn how to take it to the next level. I've been learning from the internet but sometimes I have questions or want feedback from people in the know, which I don't know so when I stumbled on CiCs site I realized this is a great opportunity staring me in the face so I jumped on it. I look forward to sharing and learning from this forum and the wisdom it contains.
Thanks,
Rick

Hello All,
I'm CJ, originally from the UK but now living in Melbourne, Australia. I have always enjoyed photography but it wasn't until my point and shoot stopped working on my last trip home that I finally brought a DSLR. I have been having so much fun learning about how the camera works and how I can best use it to capture the image I want. There is so much to learn and each time I come on to CiC I learn something new that helps! I look forward to learning from and sharing with the members here.
Thanks,
CJ

Rick, CJ, Graeme, Hulya
As the four folks who've left a message here since I last visited - welcome and thank you for joining CiC.
First thing to each of you - So that you don't continue to get people asking what your given name is ( or how you'd like to be addressed), because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Great to have you all here and I hope you enjoy being part of CiC

Ah, yes. I think many of us were there. Hopefully CiC can help the journey along the learning curve now, Rick

Glad to hear that CJ. I hope it continues. There is no such thing as a dumb question on CiC. So, keep asking questions.

That's what CiC is very much about. And, hopefully, being able to enjoy online links with other enthusiasts around the world.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello to all the many members of this fine forum. My name is Duncan McInnis from Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. I'm a semi-retired water resources and pipeline engineer who has spent more time working and travelling around the globe than pursuing my photography hobby started back in the days of film and the then brand new 35mm SLR cameras. Eventually, I stopped doing any serious attempts at photography because lugging around a full size SLR and two or three lenses on extended trips was simply too much trouble. A few years later digital cameras made their debut and within a few years I was carrying around an early Fuji Finepix on work and personal travel. I loved the digital world but was disappointed with the image quality of the digital cameras. Eventually, the DSLRs arrived and while not as heavy as the old film SLRs were still too bulky for me. Finally, Fuji came out with the XPro1 and I dived back in again. While not equal to the best full sized professional DSLRs, it still provides an outstanding image quality but is small enough to carry the body and three lenses in a small bag, and hardly notice the weight at all.
I'm looking forward to learning much more from fellow members about photography and image processing as I love both "pure" photography and digital image art, and everything in between.
Happy shooting!

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everyone , brand new member here - just got her first decent camera for birthday present - I got the canon D1100 with the standard kit lense. I love it but am only a baby in this photograph life so reading - practising and shooting away.
I am only learning the very basics but this site is the best I have come across for advice and ease of use.
I work full time and am a mum to 2 sets of twins all under 4 so am busy busy but my camera is out on the work top in the kitchen all the time for any photos I want to take. But my main interest is nature and landscape more so than family photos.
Hope to be in contact with you all over time x
