Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello, I'm LarryZ. I just retired in 2012 and am desiring to get back into photography after a 30+ year absence. To provide a time frame for what I need to catch up on, I use to own a Minolta SRT101 and assisted in running the photo hobby shop in TSN Vietnam. I now have a Nikon D7000 and my how times have changed - I'm trying to relearn and heard about the Cambridge tutorials. Bracketing has captured my interest in what it can reveal over film through the use of HDR PP - everything from enhanced detailed images to Picasso type images.

Hi Larry,
A big welcome to CiC from me.
Many of our members have returned to photography, after spending years away from their hobby due to family or work commitments. The main thing is 'Your back in the saddle'.
I agree things have changed a lot over the last few years; so I'm sure the CiC tutorials will be a great help to you, if anything is not answered there, posting in the forum will sort things out.
I look forward to seeing more of your pictures and talking to you further.
John
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi,
My name is Mike. I am new to DSLR photography but consider myself well past the point and shoot phase. I have a Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm and 55-300mm Nikkor lenses. I like to take all kinds of photos such as portraits, landscape and especially sports. Specifically Hockey, which I learned with point and shoots is very difficult to photograph. I can't wait to hear tips on how to take great hockey shots and also post process software. I don't have any website yet and look forward to hearing what sites you suggest for posting photos.

I'm hands-on person. I like to mix around with people. I look forward to learn more photography tips and technic from all members out there. I will definitely share my shots with you guys for c&c. Hi Mike,
Welcome to CiC.
I can't help on the hockey shots but there are many members here who I'm sure will be able to.
I look forward to seeing your first picture posts and to talking to you further.
Don't forget you can edit your profile to include your real name and a rough location. Most of us us real names it just makes things a little friendlier.

I've been interested in photography and astronomy since I was a child. I found CiC searching for some tutorials in color management and found the website amazing!
Doing some astro-photography http://comp.uark.edu/~prosell/
Finally got my first DSLR, a Canon 60D with a 70-300 EF lens after years of using my Canon F-1.

Hello Karthik and a warm welcome to the CiC community. It sounds like you have some solid experience under your belt. and are now looking to expand. This is a great place to ask for help, and to post images and ask for feedback.
Don't forget the tutorials, either, which are excellent.
Look forward to seeing some of your work,
Dave

Hola Pablo y bienvenido en Cambridge in Colour!
I hope you enjoy being here. I had a look at some of your images. They look very impressive. I don't think we have many astro photographers here - you might find yourself being asked for some tips :)
I look forward to hearing more from you. You might want to add your first name and location to your profile. That way they will appear with all your posts - we all tend to use first names here.
Regards,
Dave

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Your site is very difficult to understand. There is just too much to the task of creating albums and uploading.

Hello, Eric. Thanks for joining CiC. I'm sorry you've found the task of getting images into an album a bit difficult. Maybe if you were to specify what you found difficult, we could talk you through the issue.
In terms of posting images into posts here on the forum, if you ever need any help then please do read the helpful guide that walks you through how to do it. Click HERE to read the thread.

I'm using Lightroom only now.
I'm happy to be back. Heres a new one.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone,
My name is Wayne and I am just starting to get more serious into photography. I've shot film before. Never developed in a darkroom. I have used mostly a Canon point and shoot and sometimes out of convenience I use my iPhone. Natural scenery, animal, city skyline, inanimate object, and people are some of the subjects that I am mostly interested in. I've never really got into the technical aspect of equipment, never really thought too much of composition, and never really considered the exposure triangle until now. I am looking to purchase my first digital slr very soon and I have decided on the Nikon D5100. I hope this will last me a good 2-5 years depending on how fast I climb the learning curve before I am in the market for a semi-pro to pro equipment. Hopefully by then the full frame slr's will be considerably more affordable. This is also the reason why I am looking to buy just the D5100 body and buying FX lenses. I know this is not the place for this type question but I figured since this is my intro I might as well ask it anyway, I apologize ahead of time. Would the following be good investment for lenses with my experience level? Or should I really consider the kit lenses? Nikon AF-S DX 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED Lens for ultra wide angle shots, Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G for lowlight and close settings, and Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR as a general purpose lens. I might mention that I am buying all including the D5100 body except the ultra-wide angle lens as an open box item from Crutchfield. Deal or no deal? Any comments are welcome. Once I get my kit I will start post pictures on this forum as well. I hope to collaborate with everyone of you and learn as I go.
See you all around and hope to hear from everyone's positive contribution.
Wayne

Hello Everybody at CiC!
This forum was suggested to me by one my uncles. Cheers to him!
I like photography, i like taking pictures with my Nikon p80 (which is an old cam actually!) But still managed to get some decent pics with it.. I have been taking pictures for the last 4 years as a hobby. Im also still a learner. So i think this forum would be a good place for a start.
