Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello. I'm Scott, and I shoot with a Nikon D5100. It's my first dSLR and I have a lot to learn. I'm a hobby photographer who's trying to dig more deeply into the artform. I tend to gravitate more towards macro photography, closeups of flowers and insects and birds, etc. I'm happy to have found my way to this website.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Scott, and welcome to CiC.
I'm lucky enough to have just got back from a vacation in Florida. You have great opportunities there, for birds especially.
I hope you enjoy being a member. There are many folks here happy to help, and since you have your first dslr there is so much to explore.
Best regards,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

Hi Linda, and welcome to the site from me. Glad you like us so much, and hope that you stick around. The tutorials are great, and so are the members who can answer pretty much any photography question between them (they won't always agree with each other, mind!). Maybe we'll get to see some of your images soon?

I will try to add one to this thread for learning purpose also but like I said I am new and still do not quite get the whole aperature, exposure and shutter speed yet. I understand the concept but still learning to incorporate it correctly :)Post Processing is also an overwhelming feat but I am learning little by little :

Hugh and Izeek - You are both very welcome. I hope you enjoy being a part of CiC and that it helps you develop your skills in photography.
As far as posting images is concerned, I think, Izeek, that you have maybe already read - HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?, but if not then please do click on that link.
One other thing, guys - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi,
My name is Jeff, and I'm glad to be a new member here. I've been interested in photography for several decades, but I'm still very much an amateur hobbyist. I've just fairly recently purchased my first DSLR - a Canon 60D, with a Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. I had an SLR (Minolta) in the 1980's, and I've had numerous point-and-shoots from my childhood on, several of the recent ones digital, but this Canon is the best camera I've ever used, by far. The technology is amazing!
I really appreciate the excellent site here, and I've been thoroughly enjoying the great in-depth tutorials. Someone has put in a lot of work, and it shows. I've been refreshing my memory on some topics, and I've been putting some new information in this tired, old brain. :D
Thanks to those responsible for maintaining the site, and I look forward to learning from, and hopefully contributing to the community here.
Jeff
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello,
I was very excited to find this site. My name is Debbie a di use the Cannon rebel xti. My photos of choice to take, in order are wildlife, sunsets/sunrise/weather, people. I found this site in search of information on lens and Learned that what I read in tutorials I have self taught myself already. I am always wanting to learn and will most likely be more of a reader than a poster But you never know I have attached a example of my wildlife shots. Owls. It is mating season so there will be new shots forthcoming.

Hi Jeff, and welcome.
You have got some very good kit, so no excuses :)
Seriously, there are many of us here who have crossed from film to the world of dslr, and there is surely a lot to learn and enjoy. This is a great community. The tutorials are excellent but even better is the experience of the members, who are so ready to share.
Looking forward to your contributions,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Debbie from Arizona!
Welcome to CiC. You have a god choice of camera (xti) and subject (wildlife). All right, I am prejudiced because they are my choice too :). Don't be afraid to be a poster. This is a very supportive place, and you will get whatever help you need.
One, thing, though - you owl attachment didn't come through. If you haven't already, try this thread to help with posting images https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread3571.htm
Cheers,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Thank you Dave. I did notice it didn't come through not sure what went on there so I posted it as my picture. Then changed to my standard picture I use on fb
Happy to have the support working through the threads to learn how to post the Ustinov I have.
Deb
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone! Very new to photography and learning bit by bit. I thought this would be a helpful place. When viewing a thread is there any way to determine the shooting settings? Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO. And if it was altered in a photoshop program? That might help me, along with the tutorials :) for gaining knowledge. Thanks! I look forward to understanding the 'language' and having FUN playing with my camera!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello there!
Totally new to this world of photography and your community but I love the kind of support you people are giving. Its remarkable. I am a beginner level photographer with Cannon EOS 1100D the basic camera. I just myself a 55- 250 lens in additional to the kit lens since I love portraits. Please feel free to comment on the photograph attached and let me know how I can make it better....this some one of the experimental shots I took at a friend's private bird sanctuary! And there is absolutely zero PP. Its a straight shot!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello! I'm new to this site, but I have a ton o' questions! I'm happy to have found this site, as I continue my passion for photography!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello! I am optimistic on stumbling upon this website through Google+ food photography forum. I received a Nikon D3100 with 2 lens for Christmas and have no clue how to use! Just snapping pics hoping I will learn from my mistakes and eventually taking a class or 10 lol! I look forward to soaking up the knowledge!

Hello and welcome.
It is possible to download a "plug-in" for most browsers, if you are using Windows or Mac (Android devices seem a bit more of a problem) that allows you to display the "Exif" data for an image. This will tell you you much of what you are asking, though it does depend on the person who posted the image including the Exif. If you tell us what system/browser you are using, someone can probably give you more accurate information.
It would be good if you could update your profile to tell us your real name and whereabouts you are in the world. That's the way most of us do it here.

Hello to you, too! Welcome to CiC. This really is a great place to learn. Your camera and lenses are capable of producing great images. Then there is the whole world of working on your pictures on a computer (usually known as post processing, or PP as you say in your post).
Not sure why your photo did not upload. If you need help, try this thread:
https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread3571.htm
It would also be good if you could update your profile to tell everyone your name, and where you are in the world (this is a friendly place, and it's the way most of us do it).
Regards,
Dave

Hello ClickinChick! Love your username, though it would be nice if you updated your profile to tell us your "real" name, and whereabouts you are in the world.
If you have questions, ask away :). You'll get answers from some of the best and most helpful photographers there are. Make sure that you have a look at the tutorials, too.
Welcome to CiC,
Dave
