Quick Hello from theBillster, just joined as I've only just found the site. Been trying to do justice to my dslr for 5 years (I have a Canon 450 & a few lenses). I don't pretend to be very good, so won't be posting many, but enjoy myself taking pics & then trying to edit them...so I'm happy

Good day, I'm Chip from the Philippines, and would just like to give a quick shoutout to the members here :) I came across this site (and forum) while searching around about filters (because I was trying to determine which I would grab first, a CPL or an ND filter, and I went with the former.) Anyways, I got my Nikon D5000 almost three years ago, but I've yet to really decide (or find out) which field of Photography I'd concentrate on, but if there's one theme I've shot the most, it would have to be food (helping out with my mom's food blog).

Graeme - That's the very reason (and I'm sure you do yourself an injustice) that you should post - So that others can comment and perhaps give you bits of advice or ideas that you might not have thought about.

The good thing about this forum is that people are part of it on the understanding that it is a learning forum. This is not a place for prima donnas who just want to show off how clever and wonderful thay are. So, help, advice, suggestions, guidance are what people on here are about.

Hi Im new here,
My name is Fenella and Im a keen but not proficient Photographer ...yet...I live in the UK and am part of a class in my local area which is greatly inspiring, I love landscape and buildings, preferably those in decay and disuse, so I can explore and am keen to explore Portrait Photography more. I am an artist and Head of Art in a secondary school and continue to paint and draw, tamikn photos as inspiration and resources too.

Fenella - That's exactly who CiC is aimed at. You will find many people on here with extensive knowledge and experience and who are very willing to share that in order to help others learn.

I see you've already posted up a question and Mike has been in to answer. On a similar theme to posting images in your profile, and so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hi, my name is Jason from Edmonton Canada. I started learning photography 6 years ago, still learning. I like outdoor photography and My gears are nikon D700 with lens of 105VR, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200. I hope I can learn from the other photographer here and improve my skills. Thanks

I'm a fifty year old male technophobe and cheapskate who bought a Nikon Coolpix (not DSLR) camera with a kinda nice lens, and I have been taking lots of nature pictures with it. I want to upgrade to nicer toys, but first I need to follow the advice of my mentor and LEARN EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT CAMERA, IT AIN'T ALL JUNK.
My mentor was right. Expensive cameras can get eaten by dogs or knocked off their tripods just as well as cheapos. This doesn't mean I ain't serious! I just got a lot to learn. What is White Balance anyway?

Tampa has a very rich photography community. I strongly recommend anything Scott Kelby puts out. He and his organization offer a huge amount of instruction, and are especially good at the practical aspects of photography.

Hi all
just joined your marvellous community and I'm looking forward to learning from everyone. I've got a camera but no editing software and I'm more interested at this stage in taking photos rather than editing them .. mind you its good to be open minded but one step at a time.
So I've included a shot I took at a Ducati concourse a little while back .. yes I like Ducatis, but I also like portraiture, landscapes, sports . And I'm interested and open to your comments on anything I post.

You are quite right that taking photos and more photos is the most important part, it's the best way to learn. There are lots of excellent photographers here who will be very happy to assist, also some excellent tutorials.
