Hello and welcome to CiC. I am very pleased that you have decided to join. I hope that being part of the forum adds to both the pleasure and usefulness of the website as a resource to help your learning.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hello Everybody @ Cambridge in Colour, I am Jon and I have Nikon D7000 with a 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 lens and SB-900 and my first Digital Camera is Pentax istD S. My first film Camera is Pentax K-2 and has retired for many years. Photography is my hobby. It is great now for me to "develop" all my photos in the "light" and not in the "dark" as in the past if I wanted to.
Digital Cameras appears to have too many functions and features that I need to spend more time to learn using them more effectively.

Hi- my first time posting-I will be taking cruise past Hubbard glacier as well as venturing (hiking) out and on to Mendenhall glacier in Alaska in early June -I could use a lot of help as to how I can take worthwhile picture of both -Thanks-Bob
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Bob and a warm welcome to CiC.
Sounds like a fun trip you'll be having in June - a long way from sunny, steamy Florida :)
I'm sure there will be lots of members who can offer experience and advice. The best thing would be to repost your question in the Nature and Architecture forum, with an appropriate title, where a lot more people will see it. It would also help if you told us what camera kit you plan on using.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi people from CambridgeInColour,
I am Soween, I found many of the tutorials from CiC very interesting, so I decided to sign up on the forum.
I am more or less a noob in DSLR and own this material:
- Nikon D7000
- Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
- Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6
I will participate in the competitions to have feedback from people from the forum.
See you.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Soween and welcome.
You have an interesting and unusual set of lenses. Is there a particular style of photography that interests you?
If you want actual feedback on images, you will probably get more if you post in one of the forums and ask for what you want. Competitions will tell you what people like, but not why.
You could also update your profile to tell us where you are in the world, and your "real" name that you'd like to be knoen by.
Look forward to hearing more from you,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Thanks Dave,
My profile is a little more up-to-date.
I bought my both lenses for 2 different purposes:
- 50mm (75 for real) for portrait, when I became dad 8 months ago.
- UWA, I wanted something for landscape. I wanted to find a good (inexpensive) prime around 15-20 but could not, so I bought this Sigma, hoping for having fun with it.
I will use both for my 3 weeks vacations in 2 days, I will ask for feedback in the forum as you advised.
Again thank you.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi, while my handle is 'jaylach', please feel free to just refer to me as 'Jay'
I will probably never claim to be a really good photographer but some have argued that point... I figure, what the heck, go out and take 300 shots and there almost have to be a few keepers. ;)
I don't really know what 'type' of photography I do best but if pushed it would probably be things in flight.
Since I don't see any images by scrolling up through the page I won't post any samples or my stuff in this post but will look for the proper area to do so. If you look at any of my shots do NOT hesitate to be critical. One never learns anything from compliments, only through positive criticism.
I just have a basic Canon Rebel T3 rig with just an 18-55mm IS lens. I want to get a 75-300 IS lens but not feasible at the moment.
I don't know if this is proper to say here (any staff member feel free to edit out the following...). I am just a bit of a computer geek. I've been playing with the irritating contraptions for over thirty years and have received three Microsoft MVP awards. If any member has any computer issues I'd be more than happy to throw out thoughts that might help.

Great to have you here. There are always people with computer problems/questions and if you can come in and provide answers and ideas, then that will be great. This forum is all about sharing knowledge so that we all help each other learn.
And .......... no staff. The nearest you get to that is site owner and admin - Sean, Admin - Colin, and Dave and myself as Moderators.
So I hope you enjoy being involved and that being part of CiC helps you develop your photographic skills.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
LOL! As to staff... On the sites I run I'd consider admins and mods as staff. ;)
Thanks for the welcome! :)
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Another welcome. My word, you Wyoming folks either get up early or go to bed late :)
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Kind of sorta both and neither. ;) I'm in the middle of my weekend and am just not tired yet. I kind of tend to be a bit of a night owl when work does not have the audacity to interfere. ;)
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everyone
My name is Mikeand I have a canon 550d lens are a 55-250 zoom 18-55m and I have purchased a canon 17-40m f1.4 I have been interested in Photography for many years but I have never really got to grips with it as a hobby, now I have more time I am very keen to learn. I am interested in landscapes and architecture, I view photography as an art form the same as I would a painting. I really want to be able to learn about aperature ISO and speed combinations so I can vary my pictures so a lot to do. I look forward to communicating through the forums, after looking at a lot of subjects discussed I am obviously in the right place. I am going to Norway this month so I am hoping to bring back some great pictures.
